So there I am..about to reset my town. And Isabelle hits me with a vague question I research about, to find out I can sell my town to Tom Nook?! My town in itself is worth 88 million bells..! But the thing that stops me from doing this and selling it for all that money, is to me it feels so much like I am cheating! I want to work hard for my bells, but I am just getting a free ticket to riches before I have a new town!

I would like to ask what you guys think of town appraisal, did you go through with it? I will base my final decision on what you guys believe. I love the idea of the catalog! Making it so much easier to keep what you already worked on to then be able to buy them again when you have the convenience store. But again, feels like cheating to me? Slightly?

88 Million is wonderful, but the game's fun is gonna fall flat all over again if I am just given the lottery and ability to get anything. Or should I do it, and then just give all the money away?

Congrats on a solid appraisal!!

I sold one of my towns a few years ago for 103 million bells...and I have NO regrets!

I loved that town. I worked hard on that town! It was lovely! But 103 million bells have gone far...
In that new town my alts have nice big houses. I buy furniture with ease. I love my villagers. I love my new map.

The trick to make it fun for me was the escrowed payments. 100 days. Something to look forward to.

Whatever you decide remember that you can exit out at any time BEFORE you plant the new town tree. So find a new map you really really like with new villagers town tree placement etc.

Good luck no matter what you choose!
And I?m still thinking about working towards a Bellionaire badge!

Perhaps you should look at it this way:You worked on and built up the town you're interested in selling to be worth 88 million bells so you've earned those bells. You put in the work for that town and now you can reap the rewards.

I brought a second town and tried to sell it, turns out it was worth nothing as it was too young and underdeveloped xD I was kinda looking forward to selling a town for once.

Probably a cheeky way to make a profit is take the bells then sell them on here. There's nothing wrong with making a bit of extra tbt with something you don't want. Then you can use that tbt to buy stuff for your new town? Or do some giveaways with it - I'm sure people would love some free bells haha.

It is really hard to work your way back up to that amount of bells, personally I would get impatient. Having that amount would definitely be a help for paying off home loans and PWPs quickly. IGB's only take you so far if you want to get a whole lot of hybrids, bushes, unorderables or whatever, because that's probably when you'd be using IGB's very quickly or trading them for tbt to buy stuff.

Unless you're pretty self sufficient and have got your hands on all the unorderables and stuff that you want, then yeah you probably wouldn't need that huge lump of IGB's. Still wouldn't hurt giving them away though!

Totally up to you, good luck on your new town! c:

Thanks for all you replies, you guys make pretty vaild points, and I do like spreading the money out, that?s a good idea. Another question of mine is does the money already in your account go with you too? ^^

I haven?t sold my town before but I guess that you loose everything besides your catalogue when selling it. So I think the money in your bank will just be counted as part of your town?s "value". I don?t think you will have more money in your bank account than Nook offered you.

I?m a bit late with the first question and I definitely agree that it can be frustrating to earn back all the bells again and that you should think of this offer as the reward for all your hard work. But I also wanted to throw in that no one forces you to keep the money if you want to work for every bell you spend in your new town. I have seen people in the Re-tail section who just gave away all the bells they got from selling their town. You need 100 millon for the gold badge so many people would be happy to get a few extra. You could also sell the bells for some additional TBT.^^

Ah thank you! I will take what you’ve said into consideration. It does look like i’ll be taking the money. ^_^

honestly its up to you, but lets say u choose that u really do want to start all over and fresh, or if u just want some of it to get you up and going, there is also the retail thread on the forums, u could do a giveaway, or give people in game bells in exchange for tbt? either way its up to you as to what u choose. i got my copy of the game from a gamestop and it already had a game on it. it wasnt too far and i think i ended up getting somewhere under 15,000 bells. i had a friend over that had the game also and i ended up sharing it with her.
