Resident Services is WAY close to airport...

Oh man. This post is kind of just me venting, but also looking for help with design ideas!

I am seriously considering throwing out my 600+ hour save file and just starting a new island because I’m so annoyed with how close my resident services is to my airport... (It’s a bit inconvenient to post a picture at the moment, so I might edit and add one later. But to give you an idea of how close it is, the plaza starts two steps from the boardwalk and to the left.) I have a lot of ideas, but all the design ideas I like seem to have a decent amount of space between the airport and the resident services center.

The thing is, I would hate to throw out my save file right now because I have already invested a lot of time in it... I am close to completing my item catalog, and I also have 6 of my dreamies. I’m also holding out for the off chance that they choose to add an update where you can move the location of your RSC. But for now I just can’t decide what to do with my island’s design... help!!

If you have an island with a resident services center that’s super close to the airport, what did you do with the space between them?

Mine is not that close but its kind of like 7-8 spaces to the right but I see some people like to use cliffs to block out the building or maybe just a simple road path?

Do you have room to throw a line of trees in front of the plaza? If you can partially obscure the view and then redirect the viewer's eye in a different direction with a stronger focal point maybe it'll look nice.

I know your pain, except I'm stupid and made my RS really close to the airport after resetting on purpose and after like 3 irl days of playing the game I kinda regretted it but I wasn't in the mood to reset for the third time so I just hoped when I got terraforming it would fix my problems.

It mostly did.

I would love to give you ideas but I would prefer you adding a picture and if your RS is genuinely that close then wow I feel bad for you and good luck lmao.

This will sound harsh, but if you dealt with it for 600+ hours, I don't see how it's all of a sudden too close. Also, not everything needs to be designed or designer.

Do what you want, of course, but 600+ hours, a near complete catalog, and probably a huge recipe collection seems like a lot to dismiss for your current predicament.

In NL they eventually added the ability to restart your town but keep your catalogue. If they do that here, then you would just need to find someone to hold your dreamies while you restart.

In the meantime, maybe it would help to try to view your airport and RS as one single entity, and then just figure out how you can use the tiny space in between to spruce it up?

Then if you like the idea of having a well-designed entryway, you could plan that to the left or right of RS (or both!). So just view it that people come through the airport, then resident services is like the tourist info or customs or whatever, and then AFTER that you get the "welcome to the island" view.

I have 5 tiles! About a week ago I discovered it's not possible to move RS and vented here just like you, and was about to reset my nearly finished island, but I got some inspiration and now I made peace with it.
Think about it as a design challenge. For me what worked was to decorate around it! I'm pretty happy on how it turned out! I'll get you some screenshots to cheer you up. I assure you you can make it work!
