i hear people do a lot of this to get villagers they want and getting villager pictures,

doesn't that mean you end up having a really long conversation with resetti?

When you first meet him it isn't nearly as long as in the old versions. He just talks to you and you can add the Reset Surveillance Center to your Public Works Projects.
I don't really know how it works, though, since I've never done it.

Resetting to get the villager you want entails creating a new save file, so rather than loading your village, the game goes directly into the sequence on the train with Rover. Not saving once your new character scouts the village and doesn't find any interesting new villager or camper bypasses Resetti completely. You can create new characters to your heart's content and as long as you never advance to the point where you get a tent and the game saves, you'll never encounter Resetti no matter how many times you reset and create a new save file.

If you have built the Reset Center, you have to get yelled at by Resetti before you're able to go back to redo what you were doing if you're trying to reset to get a villager picture. However, just tell him your battery died and he'll take it easy on you. You can scroll through it quickly.

You only get yelled at if you have the Reser Center built. But if you're making a new character each time you reset, you still shouldn't get him even if you have the center.l

You'd probably think he'd yell at you because you reset your game, and his name is Resetti. But he'll only yell at you once without the Reset Survelliance Center, if you quit your game without saving.

if you are using an established character you get resetti once...after that Isabelle just mentions that you didn't save last time you played and anything you did would be lost.
I used the reset today for the first time to get fossils I needed and it was no big deal.
I hear people doing it to get different pwp's asked for etc.
If it is a new character then no, you don't have to worry about it as others have said.
