Reset question, free spots

So yeah, I did a reset because guided by the hype I... I rushed everything and at the end I felt disconnected from my own island. Thanks to some friends I still have my most important stuff and one of the villagers I loved the most, Sherb. I'll soon get Fang as I have ordered some cards.

My question is, I have yet to put 3 plots. But I don't really want to yet. If I go island hopping could I invite someone to then put a plot for them? Or do they get lost in some kind of limbo?

Unfortunately, I don't think villagers will spawn on islands if there's no available plots for them back at your own island.

IIRC, for your first three plots, you don’t have to plot them before inviting them. Also, I think no randoms will move even if you do plot them as long as you don’t submit the furniture pieces but I’m not super sure.

I had to submit those though, since to get Sherb the game wouldn't let me adopt him back until I had those extra final spots unlocked ^^U. I kept going to my friend's island but the adoption wouldn't trigger until I had one of those spots ready for him

Oh my god I'm dumb didn't realise you were talking about the first 3 villagers, yep you don't have to place the plots first before you recruit them. Sorry for the misinformation!
