Letting in weirdos into my life through NL straight up twice and just wasting 5 more years of my precious life time for it. I've learned though, I hope I did.

THE POLICE STATION...i didn't know i could eventually unlock a second option and have a classic police station instead.......and it's not like i'm going to reset my town to fix it, there are too many memories....
Well, both of my major ones I fixed. I reset the town as the first regret (didn't regret my layout/name till maybe 2 or 3 years later, when I started visited dream towns) and the second, not playing enough in Moriyo. One of my dreamies for that town, Phoebe, moved out. However a couple hours later, I managed to Streetpass her in Luminosa.
Next time I don't play for a while, I will def TT back. I started keeping a journal so that excact thing won't happen again.

Finding these forums, sometimes. It’s great that you can use Retail forum to get anything you could ever want easily but it also takes away some of the fun. When AC switch comes out I will probably hiatus from here for a while so I’m not tempted to buy everything I want with TBT. 
Another regret I have is in my early days visiting dream towns. They were all fantastic and made my town feel like it wasn’t good enough, I play the game much differently now than I did in the first 6 or so months.

I'm regretting not moving one of my bridges in Mistwood, but now the town is too landscaped and built up for me to want to fix it, lol.

Aren't there some items you can only get from club tortimer, though?

but seriously, I only ever unlocked because I thought it would replace that paper with an actually useful item, but nope
so I now have an extra useless piece of paper sitting in my island shop and have to deal with kapp'n asking me if I want to go to club tortimer every time
I kind of regretted my placement of the campsite PWP for a while. I set it up quickly because I wanted access to more villagers and at the time I didn't have plans to do any major landscaping. In the end, I made it work and I can live with the placement now.
The other regret I have is not keeping track of certain milestones for badges. Not knowing how close or far I am from obtaining the gold badge for island tour medals, for example, is a bit frustrating sometimes. And since I've already spent a bunch of medals, my current total means nothing. But I guess I'll get there eventually. It would just be nice if I had thought about keeping track of my totals for badges a lot sooner.

Losing the freaking cartridge of the town I spent over 1400 hours on. In hindsight it wasn’t a very well-planned town, I had no idea how to control where a villager moved in. But it was heartbreaking. My mom might have found the cartridge, she’s gonna be shipping it to me soon!

Cancelling the Caf? ceremony on my first town. I eventually deleted that town, but back when I finished the Caf? on my first town, I was ready to host the ceremony the next day, only to realize that it was a holiday, so Isabelle won’t let me host it that day. I waited the next day to host it. It was another holiday, so I can’t host it then. When I finally got to a day that wasn’t a holiday, which allowed me to host the ceremony, I chose to cancel it, because I couldn’t host it on the day the Caf? opened or the day after it opened. I completely regret it, enough to where I would even want delete the town. But that wasn’t why I deleted the town, though I was still angry over it. They should let you host the ceremony on the day it’s finished, whether or not a holiday is going on.
Giving some of my spare characters the names that they have... They were not meant to be permanent characters, so I gave them silly names at the time. It then became too much to transfer their stored items so I just decided to leave them haha.
