In my #1 ville, I can only find one per day and this has been going on for pretty much all of October. I have no problem finding the Pitfall lurking out of sight,though. The museum fossils have been complete for over six months. Is this common? Normal? Is Karma catching up with me?
They can slow down after you complete the museum but most days you should be getting 3-4. You can stop them and the pitfalls from popping up if you re-bury
them somewhere where most villagers and you don't go. I have the pitfall burried in most of my towns in the farthest northwest corner. They also won't pop up as much if you haven't dug up any old ones. They may be buried somewhere very close to a blind spot. Unless you have a town completely covered in clovers path and flowers (I mean like every single inch like I have for Caprica) they will pop up in those blind spots: very near the back of buildings and the back side of trees most times. Someone else on another board was having the same problem as you. So what he did was update his dream town then had someone visit it and find, if any, where the fossils were buried. There were 2 and in those above spots I mentioned. Sometimes it takes another person's eyes to help out. Hope this helps.
Thanks, HMC. I'll keep your advice in mind. While offline this morning, I found town #3 has the same problem. The common link between the two is that, recently, they were both so overgrown with flowers that it was hard to find anything on the ground. Bugs, tree bells, fruit, etc would easily disappear and I went shovel-happy and got rid of most of them. I have the Beautiful Town ordinance in all villages and they are all "natural" with nothing but foot-worn paths. I'm currently re-planting to see what effect that will have. Leif is thrilled with all the business. Time will tell. Thanks again for your response.
Thats strange as you should be getting 3-4 fossils a day really. My town hasn't very little ground space, it's mostly covered in hybrids and items, but fossils still tend to spawn in the places where there's room. I rarely go a day without finding at least 2 (I don't really look for them since completing the museum). As H. Says, they will spawn in places where you can't see them normally if you're ground is full. I generally find them behind the cafe/retail. They will be there I'm sure, just well hidden
