Hi!

I took a very long hiatus from this site and recently came back to see a BUNCH of new people, which is great. However, I have had a couple of miscommunications with people who don’t understand how things work around here and I thought I could help alleviate some confusion.

Common acronyms:
TBT - The Bell Tree, this site, but can also refer to forum bells which are currently disabled right now due to the site upgrade
LF - looking for; often used when referring to a desired villager or item to indicate that you want to buy/trade for it
IGB - in game bells; the currency in animal crossing games
NL - New Leaf; the 3DS animal crossing game
NH - New Horizons; the Nintendo Switch animal crossing game
OP - original post
NMT - Nook Mile Ticket; an item in New Horizons that can be purchased with Nook Miles and used as (optional) currency on this site for trades (primary currency will be IGB and TBT)

Other terms:
THREAD - a single chain of responses pertaining to a single topic; this is a thread
FORUM - a collection of threads pertaining to a certain subject; for example, The Introduction Board you’re on right now is a forum
SUB-FORUM - a forum inside of a forum
COLLECTIBLES - little icons purchased in the TBT Marketplace with TBT that appear under your profile picture (also currently disabled)
BUMP - a post to an inactive thread that “bumps” it back up to the top of the forum; there are limits to bumping so please review the rules for each forum to avoid getting into trouble

Experienced members, feel free to add more terms!

I’m not part of the staff or anything. I just want to help people out since there are so many new members.

Nice guide! To add, I also see people refer the forum currency as BTB (Bell Tree Bells), but TBT is the popular way to refer it though.

If you pick an item up (into your inventory) the game then recognizes that you have had that item before (therefore catalogues it) and it will appear in your games item catalogue at the town hall for you to order yourself.

you can plant on anyone's island, you can't dig up other peoples' flowers unless you're registered as best friends in your nookphone

I think this is great so far. I might being little nick picking and I am sorry, I would add the word optional under Nook Mile tickets so it would read as used as an optional currency on this site for trades. I keep seeing prices posts about players being intimidated by the prices and thinking its set in stone prices. Yes people can do whatever they wants but nothing is universal and do trades that you feel comfortable with.
