With the release of Sonic 4 (which i've yet to try because I'm still stuck on mobile broadband, ARGH!) and with the imminent release of Sonic Colours, my interest in the franchise has rekindled somewhat. So let's have a Sonic thread!

Give us your favourite title, your least favourite title and whether you think the series was better pre-SA2 or post-SA2.

Favourite: Sonic CD / SA2B
Least favourite: Black Knight
Best Era: pre-SA2

Colours is looking promising and reviews haven't slammed Sonic 4, so things are looking up. Here's hoping the series regains the quality and good reputation it once had.
<div class='spoiler_toggle'>Spoiler: click to toggle</div><div class="spoiler" style="display:none;">Either way, i'll keep buying the games. Sonic is still one of my favourite franchises.</div>

Fav game: Sonic The Hedgehog 2
Least Fav: Sonic Heroes
Best era: Before he started talking. Sonic Adventure was fun, but that voice makes me want to kill people.

Favorite Game: Sonic Adventure 2: Battle

Least Favorite: Pretty much most pre-Sonic Adventure games. If I had to pick one, it would probably be one of the Game Gear games or Sonic 3D Blast.

Favorite era: GameCube/Game Boy Advance era

And as I'm sure everyone here knows, the Sonic series is one of my favorite video game franchises, right up there with Pok

I will go with Sonic the third... hmm though 2 , and sonic and knuckles are very close. Those three were a trifecta of awesome. you could plug the first 2 into the third and got to be knuckles in all of them, it was pretty fun.

Now I like the adventure games, but they really just started stinking after them... the adventure games were good, but only barely. The camera angles stunk at times, and it just felt clunky sometimes. I have not tried a new one since I saw the shadow game... UG

Favorite game: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
Least favorite game: Everything between Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic The Hedgehog 4
Best Era: Pre-Sonic Heroes

Fave game: Sonic 1, 2, 3 and knuckles... I just can't decide =[
Least Fave: Well, since sonic unleashed is the only bad sonic game I've played, it has to be that...

I only got sonic 4 on my ipod touch, and that was disappointing, so Ill reserve judgement until/if I get it on playstation.

But seriously, I don't trust colours at all, I dont care how good the previews are, if past games are anything to go by, this game will be a disaster.

Fave: Sonic The Hedgehog 2, S3K
Least favorite: I dunno, i really just stopped getting Sonic games after Sonic Heroes.

Favorite: Sonic Adventure 2: Battle/Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Least Favorite: Game Gear (BOSSES HOW KILL)/Shadow the Hedehog(A Bullet to the HEad Means Sonic should be Dead)

I got Sonic 4 earlier today(PS3). I have to say, it's truly a good game. However the controls are frustrating and some idiot thought it'd be a good idea to throw a puzzle into one of the levels(an annoying difficult puzzle), it is a fun game. I like how the Special Stages and Bosses are a throwback to the original Sonic the Hedgehog.

Are you talking about the Lost Labyrinth Zone Act 2 torch puzzle? It wasn't that hard... It just took some trial and error.

Favourite: Sonic 3 and Knuckles or Sonic Fighters
Least favourite: Sonic 3D
Best Era: Probably Shadow the Hedgehog.

I found it difficult because of Sonic's jumping. Still, Sonic is all about speed, not puzzles.

until speed is all that's in the game.. my example, sonic advance 2.

first one was great, 2 was just "wait what just happened, again?", and "why can't i do this, again?"

No, Sonic is all about speed and platforming. That's one of the biggest things that retro fans are always complaining about; that there isn't enough platforming in Sonic games nowadays, it's just speed, speed, speed. Sonic 4 Episode I actually has a good amount of platforming, and sometimes with platforming comes various puzzles, like the torch puzzle.

Favorite: SA2(Battle)
Favorite Era: SA2B and the games that predated it.
Least Favorite: Sonic and the Secret Rings

I have yet to play it. Maybe if and when I get a PS3 today, I might download it.
