I had 9 villagers and i was hoping to keep it that way until a dreamy of mine popped up. Anyhow i got on this morning and there was an unexpected plot right in the middle of my paths. Usually i'd use the reset trick to sort this out but i logged onto my mayors not expecting anything. It got me so annoyed especially when its Pancetti. I don't really like the look of her which makes it even worse. I am now working on my paths to restore it just so it looks half decent.

I'm curious. How do you deal with random move-ins that destroy your paths? :c

I don't deal with random move-in's, period. When there is even the slightest chance of someone moving in I make a New Save File.

For example, 2 days ago I invited a camper, Tia. I know it takes a day before they move in but yesterday I still logged in with a New Save File just to make sure I could check. I would kill myself when I find a random move in knowing that I didn't bother to take those extra 5 minutes to make a New Save File.

Paranoid? Perhaps. But rather that than having to live with a house in an unwanted spot.

Starting tomorrow I'll log in straight away with my Mayor because I'll have 10 villagers. One benefit (for me at least) is that one of the existing 9 villagers will start to think about moving out now.

You caught her off someone you wifi'd with the day before I guess. See what she says about where she's come from! My Marcel landed in the middle of what I'd intended to be a park that way, and he's still there, but I caught Fuchsia in the act next time and stopped her from squashing any important trees.

Maybe consider starting the day with a new character every time you've done anything wifi related, if you have nine villagers? It won't stop you getting one but at least you'll know one's coming and be able to get it in a decent spot. I find that if you're going to get a wifi villager at all it'll appear with 100% frequency, so you'd just have to reset until it appears somewhere sensible.

Except. I didnt know at all that this could even happen. So yeah .. Otherwise i'm really prepared when it comes to the usual move ins. When i know someone WILL or is going to at some point i wont think twice about starting a new file.

Yeah, although i actually didnt think you could get a 10th villager with a void, thats why i never did it. Guess i learnt my lesson the hard way.

Well the 10th villager is a bit mysterious because it tends to wait for a long time before moving in. By making a camp site and inviting those villagers you'll have more control over it.

Yes, you can definitely get random move-ins from people you played with over Wi-Fi... I've had several villagers that came to me that way. The only way you can really prevent this is to avoid playing with other people while you only have nine villagers, which sucks, but that's really the only way to prevent it. The villager can be distributed either from them coming to your town, or you going to theirs, so don't think that you're safe if you didn't actually visit their town.

And don't forget you pick up voided villagers from anyone you streetpass as well. So you would have to turn off streetpassing until you have 10 villagers.

I never resetting.. i dont think delopers want us to that. It feels like cheating to me. If someone destroy my paths, i lay it on an other spot. The end. Dont know why so many people complain about that.

I'm not complaining. I'm simply saying i didnt know that this could happen with a 10th villager, as far as i knew i thought it was campsite/streetpass or you invite someone to stay. I don't live near anyone to streetpass so that isnt it. Clearly it was wifi AND THEN i was asking how people dealt with.

Also. I don't see resetting as cheating, if they didnt want us to do it they would've made sure we couldnt get around it by making a new save file. At the end of the day its my game and i'll play how i want too. :)

if they didn't want us to do it, you wouldn't HAVE to do it to get one of the pwps. :D

@Adelee i just say my opinion and not that everyone must to play the game how i say it. I realy dont know why everyone need to say like "nah, its my game" when someone have an other opinion. I just tell why i dont reset, and dont tell you to stop resetting, as long as you have fun, everything is fine :)

I just smile and redo my paths and welcome them. If I have a location I don't want anyone to move into I build something there. I will admit there are some folks I wish that didn't move in but I know in time they will eventually move out.
