Random math HW help?

Don't really know where to ask this, so I'm going to go out on a limb and ask for some help, if you guys don't mind ^-^

I'm trying to solve a system of constraints but I keep coming up with a decimal answer (the answer should be a whole number) as it involves the amount of nickles , dimes (d) and quarters (q)

Here's the problem:

q=5d
n=5q
q+n+d=4.75

Any help appreciated! Thanks :/

Is this what was given to you? Or did you have to come up with them given a word problem? If the latter, make sure the equations you found are the correct ones. Then we can go from there.

It's possible to solve those equations, but you don't get integers. I'm pretty sure your equations are wrong. Do you have the original question?

Agreed. I came up with 6d+5q=4.75, but the variables are clearly not integers.
