Rafflesia?

I just learned there's a flower I've never seen or heard of before in NL. Rafflesia! I was looking up flower guides for Sheepish and came across it listed. The information given was that your town had to have less than 3 public works and a low amount of trees. When I first started Sheepish I didn't plant trees right away and didn't have 3 PWs but this flower didn't show up. It never showed up in the beginning of Cutetown either. I've played for over a year & had no idea these flowers were part of NL. I'm so intrigued by these flowers now!

Is there a way to breed these flowers like normal hybrids? Can they be sustained by the Beautiful Town Ordinance like other flowers? Can we sell/trade/give these to each other like other flowers? Can we have these in a town permanently? Thanks so much!

Well, sheet. I'd have to demolish the couple of PWPs I've built this week and let Sheepish go downhill to get one. And I'm guessing to keep it I'd have to never build PWPs. Sigh. I wish there was another way to get them. I wish Leif sold seeds for them. I'm probably never going to see one in one of my towns now.

My old spare towns had them all the time.
First one appeared when I cut all the trees down. After I planted some trees the flower got darker and than disappeared.
After about 300 trees and some weeds the flower appeared again. The only time it went away is when I removed a lot of trees or placed a new characters house on it. When I placed the house on it the flower grew back in a different spot.

I just made a Spare town to grow weeds and smaller amounts of perfect fruit. Last night I had 666 weeds, perfect fruit, some palm trees and some PWP. The flower never appeared.

I think they are really pretty too.
Though it only spawns in underdeveloped towns that have garbage everywhere (mine)

I find them really ugly, and I think they're supposed to be because they show up if you have an underdeveloped town. they can't be removed unless you get more pwps and plant more trees, and it's a parasitic flower

That's the site I originally looked at but I was hoping maybe I could buy one from another player & have Rafflesia in my towns. My main town is basically finished and my new 2nd town already has too many PWPs so I don't want to tear them down & start over again. Thank you for the link!

You're so lucky to have had these! If I had known about this flower when I started my 2nd town I would have waited a bit to let one grow and at least take a pic of it before building PWPs. I'm bummed that they can't be sold or traded in game.

666 weeds! Wow! I still need my last weeding badge. Maybe if I get a 3rd town I'll go without PWPs to get the Rafflesia and let the weeds grow. You have a good idea there with a spare town!

I like the way they look, too. I think they'd be really cool in a jungle themed town. It's a shame that you can only get them in an underdeveloped town and they go away if you clean up or start to develop things.

I got the 666 weeds by time travel every 14 to 20 days until I reached about 11 months. After getting to about 6 months I made sure to dig up the stars and pulled the clover/wilted flowers to make room for more weeds. Kept checking as I time travel until I reached the 11 months.

I tried time travel a year in one go and only got 60 weeds. So I went back the 14 to 20 days.

The top half of the map has tiles to stop villagers from moving there and to protect the perfect fruit trees.

In my town Flora, when I first got it. I went around town chopping down a lot of the trees so I can lay temporary paths on the ground so I could plot reset and one grew there.


It's gone now, it's been a while.

I like the way they look, too. I think they'd be really cool in a jungle themed town. It's a shame that you can only get them in an underdeveloped town and they go away if you clean up or start to develop things.

Ooo, yes! They'd look great in a jungle theme! Or really amazing in a Witch/Magic theme. I agree. I wish there were other ways to get them and keep them.

I gotta admit when I first saw this in my town I was pretty shocked. It would have been nice to discover it in among some trees or something but it was just BAM right in front of my station.

Wow! That's an impressive amount of time travelling. Since I always screw up TTing I'll probably never have that many weeds. Huh, weird that TTing a whole year spawned so few weeds. I learned recently how useful laying tile down is since I had a villager whose house was in a bad spot.

It looks so cool with your tiles! It's nice & big as well. Just one of these would make such an interesting addition to a town.

Isn't rafflesia corpseflower? I imagine your villagers' morale would take a huge hit if the town smelled like rotting flesh all the time.

It is cool that it is like the real Rafflesia in that it doesn't live long & only grows in undeveloped areas. I can imagine seeing it suddenly in front of your station would be a shock. If we could buy them we could plant them wherever we wanted them.

The Corpseflower is the Titan Arum. It's not a parasitic flower like Rafflesia. They do both smell bad but the Corpseflower smells worse.
