He was truly a comedian. He's the dude who started the "Heeerrres Johnny!" craze.

For those of you who don't know who he is, he was the announcer for The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He perfectly complimented Carson as his sidekick, always knowing when to make a joke, and when not to upstage Carson.
