Quick question: How many clothes can a villager have?

Hi all!

So I was thinking about going on a BIG shopping spree for all my villagers to give them a autumn/winter wardrobe.
They are still wearing a lot of summer clothes imo and since it's really getting cold where I live that seems kinda chilly to wear.

However I was wondering how many items of clothing I needed to gift them untill I can be sure there are no summer items left... but is there even such a limit? Or will their wardrobe just increase and keep rotate summer items from time to time?

The maximum is 24, so you will be able to cycle out any summer wear eventually. Just remember that their default top can never be replace. The more clothing you give them, the less likely they will wear their original shirt.

I was wondering how this worked too. I know from seeing screenshots of time traveling that they have winter coats and hats they sometimes wear in the winter (or the snow?), the same way they do in the rain.

I saw something recently that said certain clothing items are only sold in the Able store in the summer, but I don't know if that has been confirmed. I do know villagers pay attention to the season with regard to certain items. For example, I gave Marina a shell wreath for her door, and she left it up all summer, but took it down when fall started. Not sure if any clothes might work that way?

oh man I wish you could just go through and customize the village's wardrobes rather than leaving it to chance that they'll wear something you want them to :/ this sounds like a good idea to send them seasonal stuff tho, I've never thought of that!!

Hmm it will be interesting if Audie continues to wear the hula top in deep winter. She looks half-naked in it. I know she has fur all over but it still makes me cold even imagining, haha!

Yeah i kinda thought that too, but they wear are still wearing the summer items i gave them. Granted, it is only on very clear sunny day that they do that, but still..

Pfff don't get me started! I like how they have their own style and stuff, but I just wish they wouldnt wear tank tops late October, or i could just veto an item or two at least haha

For some villagers i kinda get it tho, for example Coco wearing a t shirt doesn't really bother me, but Rosie walking in tanktops is just not very sensible to me haha
