So I recently restarted my game and I decided this time around Id like to do some landscaping/have a themed town. Last night I came up with the idea of possibly theming my town around the fairy tale of Beauty and the Beast. I want my town to have a quaint, wismisical yet natural feel and for some reason I just felt that theme would fit the atmosphere I'm going for.

I already have some good ideas for telling the story but something that's bugging me is the fact my mayor is named after me, not Belle, as I thought of this idea after starting my town and I've already done a fair amount with it and don't fancy restarting again.

But yeah long story short my question is how heavily inspired by a certain story does a themed town have to be? Would something small like that ruin my theme? Should I just restart?

You can always create other characters and name them after Belle and the Beast and consider your mayor the narrator of the story or what have you. I think it's a cute idea and you can make it as detailed as you want. :) It's your town.

I personally wouldn't let it stop you, but it depends on how far you really want to take the theme. If you think it will be worth starting over to change your mayor's name, then go for it. (:

I have a Fairy Tail themed town, but my mayor is named after me. So I just pass myself off as one of the other guild members. -shrug- So far no one seems to care.

I really like this idea of making my mayor the narrator! Only problem with that is my house position.. I have a south facing waterfall and I thought it would be cool if I had Belles house on one side and the Beasts castle on the other... I also purposely put it smack damn in the middle of this strip of land so I could build a perfect fruit orchard at the back. I could probably work around this but when you factor in villagers and the cafe etc it doesn't leave me with much space for more than three characters.. >.<'

I think I'm going to have to reset. I might still use the idea of the narrator character though if I have room for it after I've made the main characters. But if I'm going to do a themed town I want to do it right. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and it would drive me crazy if I felt anyway unhappy with it.

Thanks for helping me make my mind up guys! <3
