Questions about Multiple Copies!

Okay, so, I finally got a second copy of New Leaf (which makes two physical copies), and was hoping to have a cycle town until I eventually get 10 villagers on that copy that I like. Buuuut, I'm paranoid, so I had a few questions. ;v; Please keep in mind, I'd be playing both copies on ONE 3DS.

1. Is it safe? Or do I run the risk of wiping out my main town?
2. If not, do I need a second SD card to play safely? Or is it just not safe, period?
3. Have you or someone you know had any problems?

From my understanding, the physical copies save to the cartridge, so there's no chance of them overlapping. (I have a physical and a digital copy on one 3DS, and there's been no issues.) I think you're pretty safe.

P.S. Don't ever mess with a second SD card. That way lies deleted towns and broken hearts.

Ohh, okay. The only reason I'd considered a second SD card is because of the possibility of some kind of data being on there that pertained solely to my first copy (if that makes any sense? ;u; ). I was pretty sure it was, in fact, safe, but I wanted to make sure, because my first town means a lot to me and I'd be heartbroken if I lost it. Thank you for the info! <3
