Question for an expert about villager houses

Is it possible for a new villager to move in next to another villager's house with only an interval of one step ?

I know it's possible to have two houses separated with an interval of two steps since I already saw that few times but I'm not sure if it could be less than two (for houses really close to each other).

A picture proof would be welcome... but if you're confident about your knowledge of the games just tell me if it's possible or not.

The answer is no, I'm afraid D:

I'm pretty sure they can move within one spot of a giant rock.. But it has to be two spaces for houses (including your own) and PWPs.

I have a really small island and though each of my dreamies could install their houses in it but... it seems impossible now.

i believe it is because buildings / pwps need one space all around, and the one space cannot overlap each other.

Anyone can claim themselves as an "expert" tbh.

But anyways the answer is no. Each house has a 1 space buffer, which means it has to be a 2 space gap.

With this information... I know that I can put 11 houses MAXIMUM in my small island town (and by respecting the 2 gap things)

Well, I reset approximately 300 times before obtaining a good town map but now the work on it will be even more tiring.

Another question...

If houses can be separated horizontally by 2 steps, do you think a house can be built 2 steps vertically behind or in front of another house ? I ask this because I've never seen that.

Well... sorry for posting again but :

It looks like their is a gap of 3 steps between two houses VERTICALLY and 2 steps between two houses HORIZONTALLY.
I guess.

With X representing a villager's house and - the empty space.
