Question about villagers leaving

I had one of my towns people leave a few days ago. I had already 10 villagers in my town before they left. My question is do you get new people in randomly or do I have to go out and get someone new now to replace the villager that left?

Unless one of your friend's villagers are moving out right now or you convince a villager to move from either town/or campsite then you should still have 9 villagers for awhile. You'll only get random villagers when you have 8.

Thank you so much. In retrospect I miss the villager that moved out and wish I would have told him to stay. Oh well, so is life.
