hi! I just have a few questions since I'm kind of freaking out xD
I've been hearing a LOT about people's files becoming corrupt in New Leaf. I heard that it could be caused by turning off the game during saving. I did this a couple of times without thinking when I would realize I forgot to change the time or something which I totally regret T____T it was only like three times though, & it was about three days ago.
if this were to corrupt my file, would it have happened already? am I safe for now unless I do it again? xD
thanks guys

Muzzy, try not to:

1. Shut down while saving.
2. Lose power while saving.
3. Remove your cartridge while saving.
4. Damage your 3DS while saving.

I think that covers it. ^_^

um i kind of have a question

in one of the system updates wasn't save data like updated so it's like more secure or smth idk i forgot
can someone verify??

I thought I heard somewhere that closing your 3DS while the game is on could cause corruption. Because I heard that, I've refrained from closing my 3DS. I don't know if that's true, have any of you guys heard of that/closed your 3DS a lot while playing it?

I've heard of this and I do it all the time lol no problems
I backed up my SD card onto my computer so it should be safe

Is there a workaround to being able to have two towns?

I have two SD cards. Is it as simple as swapping them out and playing on each one?

no, someone made a thread on this and they bought 2 copies wont work
you can have physcial + digital though

I have a physical copy right now. So all I need to do is buy the digital version? No SD swapping required?

I have a physical and a digital and they're both fine, no swapping needed!

I also close mine while playing, but not often at all, I try to leave it open if it's only 5 mins or so, otherwise I save and come back to it later.

Generally being careful with your console and SD card should protect you from most wear and tear type damage and like anything else, if it's going to corrupt, then it's going to corrupt. We just take the risk that it won't happen, we're fortunate that the risk is tiny especially nowadays.

Nope.

Closing your 3DS while playing a game is a feature - it wouldn't cause corruption; maybe if you did it while it was saving, but not just at any ol' point in the game. All it does is put your game into an idle state. It doesn't "touch" anything else other than that. It's essentially the new "pause button".

Save corruption can happen in two ways:

Random system error - Unavoidable. The game is always at risk no matter what since technology is never perfect, but the chances are very slim.

Interrupting the game while it's saving - This is why most games tell you not to turn them off while saving, because chances are very high that it may cause save corruption, or if nothing else you just don't save and lose the progress you made. If something is processing something important you want to let it do its job uninterrupted. This applies to any device including your computer. Saving, patching/updates, etc should always be left alone till they're finished.
