Hello Everyone!

Do new villagers (I'm using plot resetting) move over a dead cedar sapling? Cause so far I tried many times and they didn't yet. Or is it impossible for them to do so?

They probably would, but if you're putting dead cedar saplings to eliminate spots, it's better to use design squares spread out evenly by 3x3 and save a few spots. For paths, it's a 100% gurantee that villagers won't move on them.

The dead cedar just appeared on the plot the day the new villager would arrive, so i've been resetting countless times now hoping he will move onto it. The rest is all covered with patterns so there are no other 3x3 spots. I had 10 villagers, and the new one keeps moving in the place of the old villager, instead of the plot I want him to move into (the one with the dead cedar) I have the gamecard with the newest version, therefore my whole map is covered besides what I just said.

If you want, I think you can possibly remove the cedar by time travelling to the last time/day you saved your game (like maybe the previous day). The plot won't be set since the game would think you're still on that day. That's what I do when I need to re-path or cover something.

Just make sure that you'd move the time forward using the 3DS clock when you want to resume plot resetting.
