I don't think I understand plot resetting. If a villager is moving in, Isabelle tells you, you rush over to greet them and find they moved into a bad spot... does this mean you turn the game off, Isabelle tells you again and you find their home in a new spot? Rinse and repeat until the house in the place you want?

I've never tried plot resetting because I'm scared to jinx things. Like when I play pokemon I soft reset like infinity times to get a female starter... is this the same thing? How long (or how much time) does it take to get your villager's house in the right spot? Am I understanding plot resetting?

Thank you for any and all answers!!

OK, loading your mayor will ALWAYS set in stone what happens in your town. So, you can't plot reset /w your mayor.
Instead, you make a new save file, scout the town, and if a villager is in a bad spot, reset.
If the villager is in an acceptable spot, you go to town hall and do the registration process /w Isabelle. Once you save for the first time, the plot will stay there.

I gave the condensed version, but I hope it's understandable!

You usually go into a new day expecting a new villager (if you picked someone up from another person's town while they were in boxes then theyll plot on the next day). So once that day comes (I change the 3ds clock to TT a day forward) you choose "New Save File" instead of continue and go through all the options, train station, etc and load into your town. Then you run around, find the plot, and if you like it then you continue until Isabelle gives you your card so you can save. If you don't like the spot, however, you then close the game through the home menu and repeat the process. It's incredibly tedious and annoying but hey.. it's acnl

UM that sounds like a NIGHTMARE. I do NOT have the patience for that omg!!!!!! Kudos to those who do, but I'm so glad I asked! Thank you!

It's not easy. Well, it depends really. I had two villagers recently who plotted properly straight away but then Beau I couldn't get in a spot for 7 hours before having to partly give up. It can be a massive help, since it stops villagers ruining paths and plotting right in front of things. But it can be time consuming and you have to have patience if it doesn't work straight away. Not for everyone I agree :(

dang. I could never! I TT'd for two solid weeks (the same week twice) to get rid of a villager and then had to take a break because it took the joy out of the game for me. That's wild! I'm glad you got him where you wanted him though!! :) ty!
