Question about pattern's

Okay if i put patterns down on my ground over grass, will the grass stop growing there?

I was just planing on makeing a path that goes threw some of my grass and i want it to still grow.

When i put my path down and there was grass under neath it and i was running alot it turn into dirt. so i don't think so i think the grass will still grow. even when you put patterns underneath it. im still not sure though.

I'm not sure if the grass will grow.
But I do know that if you run over it for a long time, it will die.
