I was going to put this in the questions thread, but my description got a little lengthy, so hopefully someone can help clarify a few things. I have read guides about this, but I'm just a little foggy on a few details.

I have a question about the villager moving process - I've never had anyone move out so I'm not sure exactly how it works with the dates and all that. Basically, if I'm going to move out a villager, I want to try that trick where you create a new character the day someone new is moving in so I can preview where they will put their house, but I just want a few things clarified:

1) When a villager says they are moving out (let's say they gave me the date Dec. 24), does that mean they will be in boxes on the 24th, or will they be in boxes the day before (23rd), and be gone on the 24th?

2) I'm going to TT a bit, exactly how does that affect the moving schedule? For instance, if someone tells me they are moving on the 18th, and give me the date 24th as their move out date, and all I do is travel back and forth between two days, how would that work? I hear when a villager moves out they're basically counting the days between the notifying date and the actual move-out date they give, so in the above scenario, they'd move out in 6 TT days regardless of the actual date, or is this wrong?

2) I have a full town right now (10 villagers) - so if someone moves out, will a new villager replace them right away, or is it random as to when someone will move in?

3) Either way, when should I create a new character to look for the Nook's rope + sign? If a new villager is guaranteed to move in the next day, should I create my new character the day after the leaving villager is in boxes?

I think that's all the questions I have right now, sorry if I'm being wordy and stuff. I know it seems kinda fussy but I already have paths and all that and I'd hate for a new villager to just plop down in front of Town Hall or something. :p

Also, I'm not really cycling or looking for a perfect set of "dreamies", I just haven't had new any new villagers at all since my tenth moved in and would like to see some fresh faces in town, without anyone ruining my paths. Thanks in advance!

2b) You can only get 10th villagers from the campsite and random wi-fi pool.

3) I think i kind of understand? Make the new character on the day they will move in which is usually the next day. And yes, if you want them to have a good spot in your town, remember to do it after 6am and do not load up a character that already exists.

1. They will be on boxes on the day they mention and they'll be gone the next c:

I'll try and answer the questions based on what I know.. but obviously if someone spot a mistake, pls feel free to correct me.

1. If a villager announces a moving date, they will be in boxes on that day. eg from your example, they give you a date 24 Dec, it means they'll be in boxes 24 Dec.

2. TT-ing will affect their moving date. It takes 5 days from them starting to think of moving, till they get into boxes, so if you TT backwards and forwards, that all counts towards the 5 days. Remember that TT-ing backwards any length of time counts as 1 day.

3. When you're down to 9 villagers, you won't get a random move in. You'll only get a move in via campsite, invite from another village, wifi or streetpass. Random move ins happen when you're at 8 villagers.

4. Start up a new character on the day when you're expecting someone to move in. So if you've invited someone to move in from a different village, don't log in with your mayor the next day, but with a new character. It's more difficult if you wifi with people regularly, cos you won't know if you've picked a villager up or not.

I hope that helps!

All the info you got is solid. On TTing - Summ3rain has it right, you need to be careful and count if you're trying to actually get the villager into boxes to give away. honestly, if you plan to TT anyway and you want the villager out, I would jump right to the moving day and be done with it so you don't make any mistakes.

On doing the plot reset trick, if you aren't sure whether or not someone is moving in, there's no harm in doing it every day you are below 10. Do you plan to adopt villagers? Or wait for campers? If you are adopting, just invite someone in as soon as that house is gone. If you're waiting for campers just be really careful while you wait -- like Summ3rain mentioned, you never know when you'll pick up someone's old villager through wifi or streetpass. Everyone I know has gotten at least one surprise villager! Mine has never left :(

Thanks for answering my questions, guys, that helped a lot! Especially the stuff about surprise move ins from Wi-Fi and streepass, didn't know that could happen. D: Definitely have to look out for that.
