Question about Getting Villager to Move Out

A villager just moved in today and I was wondering if I'm just supposed to talk to him today and he'll move out in a week if I ignore him after.. I heard about this method before but I don't remember if I'm only supposed to talk to him while he's still moving in or when he's all settled > <"

Most of the time when I talk to my villagers on the first day they stay for awhile or even if I ignore them they stay. Once I ignored someone and they moved out within a week. I think it might be random but I'm not sure.

Talk to them once. I usually do it when their stuff is still in boxes and ignore them thereon after.

I doubt this works, pretty sure it's random. I tried this on Hippeaux yet he stayed with me after I traveled through the ends of time and beyond. Took MANY tries to get him out -_-

I've been trying to find out what makes villagers move :T So far there's not much success.. Would it be weird for me to ask of you to track which one of your villagers ask to move out? FOR SCIENCE

@Riiiiptide: How long did it take you before Hippeaux moved out? I'm having the same problem with Carmen -__-
