Question about flowers

If I have a certain type of flowers on my island that I don't want anymore I can just dig them up and they won't come back? Or how do flowers appear?

Depends on whether by 'type' you mean all of a certain flower or just specific colors of that flower. For example, say you dig up all the red, white and yellow hyacinths but leave the hybrids, you're still going to have the reds, whites and yellows pop up occasionally. If you dig up every last hyacinth, however, then you won't have any more grow until you plant some
