So I currently have 10 slots but a camper I have has agreed to move in after I won a couple of games with him.
So now my question is - do I have any choice as to who I boot out or is it random?
If Tom Nook picks someone to boot out, do I have the option to decline?

A quick answer is appreciated as I'm kinda stuck at this point and don't know how to proceed.
This camper isn't my dreamie by any means but I thought it would be cool to experience someone else for a little while - however; I'd die if I were to lose any of the dreamies I currently have (Sherb, Erik and Octavian).
HELP please..

if it's an amiibo, then you can choose, but if it's a random camper, then you don't get a choice, only they do

It's not an amiibo. It's a random camper.
So they. have a choice and there's no way to decline at all?

It's random, but you can try with save/load to choose who you exactly want to kick out.

Edit: Actually no save, just close the game without save and then enter the game again.

Ahhh in that case I won'r risk it.
The villager in question is Pudge - I've never had him so thought it would be fun to have him live on my island for a little while. But there's no way I'm taking any risks with my current set-up.

You can still try even you don't want to do S/L. You have the choice to decline his request if it's not the village you want to kick out.

So if Tom Nook suggests the villagers can I just decline?

yes, he'll first ask you something like "I've asked the service center and XXX wants to move out, is that okay?"
And don't forget that the game does not save automatically all the time, so even if this happens(you choose "yes" by mistake). Immediately force to exit the game can help you get rid of the problem!
