I believe you'll have to get the QR machine in your own town in order to use it. Can't use it in someone else's town.

Yeah, you can't use someone else's machine but you're in the mood to work on your paths, you can place temporary patterns downs, and then once you get the machine, you can download paths and then save them over the place that the temporary paths are, and it'll replace them automatically in your town. Though, if you're planning on working on complicated paths with multiple directions ect. that could be sorta difficult...
