For class we have to buy a domain name for our portfolios. Being a broke college student, I want a domain that is cheap. Does anyone know of some trustworthy hosts, besides namecheap?

Thanks!!

You can actually get a .tk domain name for free!

GoDaddy do domain names for $0.99, but I'm not entirely sure if they only do domain names for their own sites (they've got a site builder) or not.

Where are you from? I've found anyhow that being a resident of particular countries can sometimes allow you to purchase a domain with your country's extension cheap.

I was considering Godaddy but I wasn't sure if they were trustworthy or not. I've heard mixed reviews.

Interesting! I did not know that. I'm from Canada!

you *have* to buy a domain name? you can't just use a website like cargocollective or tumblr?
i've used freedns.afraid.org for subdomains, which works fine if you're not expecting a lot of traffic.

Are you also being graded on the quality of your portfolio, and do you hope to use it outside of class? If you don't have a lot of experience with web design, maybe you could go with a company like SquareSpace or GoDaddy that have website builders and domain options.

Especially with SquareSpace, I've heard lots of YouTube/podcast ads for them so using creator's coupon codes, you can probably get a good discount.
