So, while fast cycling in my second town I came across Puck before I had room for him in my main. I found him a temporary home in a friend's cycle town. When I finished cycling through 16, I went back to adopt him, but he didn't remember me at all! I was quite surprised and a tiny bit disappointed. I've been reading threads here that villagers sometimes remember more than one town. Do they ever remember that they are moving back to the same town again? Or is the entire point of the 16 villager cycle to get them to forget you?

I guess yes to the last question? I tried googling for the answer and yes, if you adopt a villager again, even if they are from your town originally, they will treat you as someone new. They'll remember you if you visit them when they're in someone else's town but they'l forget when they move back in.

These are all based on what I found though (old topics discussing the same thing) and not from my own experience.

I moved Apple back to her original town after cycling through 16+ villagers and the first time I talked to her after she moved back(she hadn't unpacked yet)she didn't introduce herself or acknowledge that she remembered my mayor. She just said something like "I'm still unpacking, come back later".I though that she would at least introduce herself even if she didn't remember my mayor.

It did make me wonder if I had visited him after cycling through 16 but before he was in boxes if he would still know me. So, is it my cycling or his going into boxes that causes him to forget. I didn't get a chance to visit until he was in boxes, so I don't know.

But what about when you were adopting her and she was still in the other town? Did she still remember you at that point? Because even then Puck didn't know who I was.

The point of the 16 cycle is you cycle their data of ever living in your town out so they don't remember you.

Actually,I had to get her from the other town's void because I had ten villagers in her original town(I swapped her for Papi). This might seem like a silly question but while you were fast cycling in your second town did you talk to Puck at all before he went to your friend's cycling town?

Yes, I did. Even though I was fast cycling, I was really happy to have him and knew that I would want to keep him. My plan was to turn my fast cycle into a second town, but I also knew I needed to cycle out quite a few villagers before I could do that, which put Puck in jeopardy to pop out before the others. So I lined up a second home for him, cycled like mad and then brought him back when I stopped cycling. He's destined for my main town, but there's no room there till certain villagers cough up some PWPs.

Yes, when I found him in boxes with no memory of me, I assumed this is what happened but I wasn't sure if it was my cycling or his moving. I've seen so many people wanting others to hold "their" villagers because of that personal connection, so I was surprised that the connection just disappeared. This particular Puck and I didn't have a long history, but I've sometimes found it hard to get the less popular villagers. They just get voided too quickly:( So I thought it was worth it to try to keep him. And, of course, it was totally worth it.

When Anicotti moved back into my town (coincidental, not from another town) she greeted me with 'Hey Kari! We've met before.' Everything else had been reset, however.

I never knew that... xD that's wierd!

I have Puck in my 2nd town, ADORE him mainly because my brother plays hockey. (Maybe I will make him a Red Wings jersey...)

So the 16 villager cycle is kind of a hollow victory then. That's too bad.

I moved my Puck to my duck town after Drake left without notice.I was running low on ducks to put there so I figured Puck is also an aquatic bird, his name rhymes with "duck" and he could join his fellow hockey helmeted pal Scoot.

I don't know what going on, because he should remember you. The 16-villager cycle drops them from your town's memory, but they have their own set of data attached to them. I've heard plenty of people here say their villager said, "It's great to be your neighbor again."

How cute! :D They look like they would be best friends. :') I have a soft spot for Puck too since he was my favorite villager back on the gamecube version of Animal Crossing. I like my currently lazies now though, but it's nice to see a fellow Puck fan. :)

Well, then, should I ever lose someone again, I will try again:) Thanks!

Just completed the 16 villager cycle with Simon, when I he was in boxes in my brothers town he said, "We'll be living in the same town again!" But I don't think they do remember you when they move back in.

I think Puck is one of those guys you just have to get to know. He'd love a Red Wings jersey, and I'm sure he'd share it with everyone else in town:)

Well, this brings to mind an entirely new thread for people with access to two towns. I'll go start it now...! Why don't the villagers who move to my main from my cycle remember living together in my old town?
