PS Vita

Over in Europe major retailers aren't getting anymore Vitas in despite there being a little demand for it, so the big to do right now is whether or not Sony is stopping production of Vitas in favor of PS VR. While ultimately Sony hasn't done much in the way of Vita support outside of some system updates, the writing on the wall is grim considering that Remote Play was PS Vita's sthick and now PC/Mac/Phones can do that. While I think it's safe to assume games will still be pumped out by Indie Devs and Japanese Publishers, I don't expect future updates improving the Vita's quality of life.

oh i see. im in the us and i have no clue whats going on right now. im interested in this stuff but like i said i need to do my research. just saying this so i don't look like an idiot, but ya i did start this thread to hear from others and what games they like, their feelings, etc.

like i said i don't mind using older consoles, my concern would be if it like neeeds updates to work or whatever or if it starts to lag since it is a powerful system. id like to get some life out of my toys even past their *new*/expiration date.

gimmicks, whatever its like a cool add-on. i mean who actually turns the 3d on their 3ds lol? like i did when i tried it out and first got it. i already new it wasn't something id be using the majority of the time.

I've owned a PSP, but not the Vita (didn't even bother). I think Sony should just stick to consoles honestly, because handhelds seem to not be something they're good at. The screen on the Vita is pretty good (I'll give them that), but not much else is.

i was actually considering getting a psp like 6 months ago lol. well i had been meaning to get one for years now but i donno i could never justify it. now i feel like maybe its too late got for vita, so i can actually play some new exciting games, and if i want to collect get a psp down the line

I mean unless you're looking for niche PSP UMD disc only games on the PSP, it's not the way to go. Even less so since I believe in most markets the PSP Game Store has been shuttered or will be soon. Some PSP titles can be purchased and played on the PS Vita, even more if you have a PS3 to which you can download games to and transfer. Ultimately Sony's biggest problem with the Vita is that unlike Nintendo who doubled down on making gamers happy, Sony was kinda like "Whelp" and gave us indie games. Honestly the worst gimmick about the PS Vita was the rear touch screen which I've never been happy with because big hands.

I bought my Vita like a year and a half ago and honestly haven't used it much outside of playing Disgaea 4 a bit. It's a really charming machine and I like the way it's built, but the selection of games is kind of mediocre and it seems like a lot of games are better downloaded. Alot of the downloaded games are basically full price too, which is prob like it is on 3DS, but I remember still feeling a bit ripped off when browsing stuff.
Kinda regret buying it honestly.

IIRC unless it was download only, there was a number of games that came $5 off if you bought digital. Might have been Sony only games, but it was a better deal than what Ninendo provides which mighttt be a theme.

Ah I see, it's been a while since I checked. I mighta checked some specific game and felt ripped off then? Like I remember thinking the Dangaronpa games were a bit too costly. Didn't expect Danganronpa to be like 40e. Might be that I'm less willing to spend on PSV than 3DS too.

Yeah, in that case you may wanna go with the Vita lol. It is pretty late in the game for a PSP, I can't imagine you being able to find a lot of quality games for that.

Getting a PlayStation Vita completely changed how I game. Despite having very little games available, I would argue that they are much better than a lot of the mainstream console garbage recently. Honestly, the best gaming experience I have ever had was playing Persona 4 Golden on my Vita. I have never been so invested in a game before, so I highly recommend picking a Vita up, even just for that game. But if your not a fan of more Japanese style games like P4G or visual novels, I find it hard to recommend.

But just to note, the graphics on a vita compared to most handheld devices is very impressive. So if you are into that sort of style of gaming then I highly recommend it.
