I don't quite get how trading villagers work.

Say if someone has villager A and they are X. Someone wants A, and they are Y. Can the person X who has A only see person Y? Does villager A always move into the town of which the last visitor to person X? I think I'm making it complicated and I don't understand it at all :(

It's not as complicated as you're making it out to be. Villager trades occur when a villager is ready to move out (has put all of their furniture in boxes within their house.) Then, another player from a foreign town can come over and speak to that villager who's in the process of moving. The visiting player can ask the villager if he/she wishes to move to their town, then a day later it'll happen.

Nununu.

X invites Y over when Villager A is packing out. Y speaks to Villager A, and convinces him to move to their town. Y then leaves and is followed by Villager A, who immediatedly starts building a house in their town. Their house in X's town will say "Moved out -A" whenever you click on the door.

That make sense?

Thanks so much! Okay I get it now... Does this work also with campsite villagers?

Yes ^^ Thank you. Does this also work with campsite villagers?

It doesn't work with campsite villagers (you cannot go into someone elses town and convince a campsite villager to move into your town)

It does! However, sometimes villagers won't be as enthusiastic to move in. They'll often say that they're happy with their current village (which is untrue because my village is the best!)
(Only with campsite villagers in your town.)

It is possible to move in campsite villagers, even if they're in other peoples' towns. (This was recently proven, but it usually takes 80+ convos. I almost got it to work, and then the host and I's wifi cut out. Dx)

Ohh okay. I understand. I believe @Midgetsc below has provided evidence that you can convince other people's campsite villagers too!!

That's really interesting! I will be sure to try it out next time. Thanks for sharing!

A couple people on Tumblr have got it to work. Some people on this are currently trying to get screenshots.

I lost my watering can to Patty in a game of charades trying to get her to move to my town. ;_; I did convince her on the second try though.

Always empty your pockets of items you want to keep before going in the campsite. If you want stuff to play games with, shells and flowers work. But don't barter away your tools. :)

Lol, I lost my megaphone to those games. But the megaphone is pretty useless, so I didn't care much.
