Pros and Cons of the Badge Arcade

Hey everyone! North America has recently received the Badge Arcade, and I've been playing it every single day since it came out. It's really cool, but I've noticed some problems with it. So I decided to create a thread where people can list what they like and don't like about this new feature!

For me, I love the free plays and the practice machine. It lets those of us with no money to spend on games have a chance to play and earn more plays. But, my problem is also in this area. You can't save the free plays. You have to use them right then. What if I want to save the free plays for when cooler badges come out? Because I didn't like any of the badges offered today and yesterday, but the pink bunny man made me use my free plays

What do you like and dislike about the badge arcade?

While I do enjoy the free plays, I thought it was possible to get +3 a day if you found the special bonus badge. However, I watched a guy capture all the badges from the practice machine in addition to a few extra when the machine reset since he had one more play and he didn't get a single bonus badge. I also don't like how the machines add old badges you already earned the next day or is it when you close your game? Regardless, I don't think it should add them back. The game itself is fun and obviously an easy way to get money from people. I don't think I'll be spending money on it unless there's some really amazing badges I must have.

Pro's
- Badges are neat
- Sometimes one of the crappy badges nobody really wants will just fall into the hole without actually playing and you get it for free.

Cons
- How ruthless they're being forcing the microtransactions with this one.
- You can't tell the rabbit to stop asking you about money all the friggin' time.
- If you screw up and accidentally ask the rabbit to tell you more about throwing money at this, you have to wait for ages for all the damn eShop stuff to load up and do its thing before you can cancel it.
- RNG on whether the dummy badges give you a free play is a joke. I've had 3 free play badges since it released with an estimated average of 15 dummy badges a day. I got 26 dummy badges today, which you would expect at least 1 badge from...Nope.
- 90p per 5 turns is a joke.
- They know full well that they're making most of the badges people actually want extremely hard to get without spending money. Yea, it's the same with real claw machines, but it's pretty close to a 'pay to win' game if I feel I have to pay to get what I want.
- It takes forever to load up. I mean, what the hell, it's like I'm trying to load Fallout 4 or something. It's a friggin' badge app, why does it take so long?
- They won't stop constantly giving EU the same Mario, Splatoon and Animal Crossing badge machines.
- You can only place badges in the spaces reserved for icons rather than just anywhere. This makes it hard/impossible to get some badges where I would like them. I want the Yoshi egg to sit on Isabelle's desk, not hover above it, god damn it!
- That you can't save your plays. Why if I only have 1 free play does the rabbit force me use it? Like, no, dude, just let me go. I can't get anything I want with this one play anyway, you're wasting both our time by making me use it.
- It keeps disguising market research as innocent questions from the rabbit. Like, I'm cool with Nintendo wanting to know my input on stuff but if they want to know stuff, just come out and ask it. It just feels sleazy when they're trying to do it sneakily like that.

I just don't like how they keep reminding you that you should spend money on the game. I get that you have to gain profit somehow because you have to hire a lot of people to make the game, plan new content periodically, etc, but pushing the players to spend instead of leaving them to decide is kind of rude in my opinion. And while free plays exists, they're so little that it wouldn't entice people to spend on the game.

Oh, I forgot to add, I hate how the bunny goes on and on about other games that they want you to buy. For example, I'm not a big Mario fan. But that bunny keeps droning on and on and on about Yoshi's Wolly World. And there's no way to skip it. It seems like a waste of time, since they're advertising to someone with 0% interest in buying the game.

That bunny has always peeved me off since I was introduced to his long, drawn-out attempts of trying to get you to pay for Streetpass games.

Aside from the whole controversial microtransaction calamity, I really don't think the badges are worth it... yes, they look sorta neat on your homepage, but it gets a bit distracting and cluttered up for something that mostly only the owner will ever see. I was never a big fan of themes, spending hard earned cash for custom images and sounds, but with the introduction of badges, it only makes me wonder what other virtual interior-designing Nintendo will try and get you to pay for, next.

Uh... Animal Crossing is different, of course. Either way, I don't mind if you like themes or badges, I'm just personally mildly livid about Nintendo trying to rake in small amounts of money all the time from us nowadays [Rusty's Real Deal Baseball was what first really sparked me...]

The badges that people actually want are nearly impossible to get. Ugh... I feel like such a moron for spending real money on the swapnote badges. I didn't even win anything, but Nintendo was 'nice' enough to give me 1 free badge because they knew that crane was unfair
