Problem traveling towns?

So I have AC:GC with two memory cards. (that aren't broken)
I decided "Hey, I need apples! Why not visit that town?"
Talk to the monkey and the odd thing is
(what i remember) repeats it two times and says "save something"
It returns me to the title screen copying the mem. cards together i guess and nothing happens?
I've searched it up on the web but idk..
