So my friend wants a 3DS and I am planning on selling mine when I get the N3DS so win win. However, me and him are stuck on pricing. He doesn't want to make an offer and cheat me out, and I don't want to cheat him out either, but I know he doesn't want to pay as much as I have seen them go for. I'll post pics later, but my 3DS has light scratches on the cover, a tiny dent on each front corner, and the plastic surrounding the bottom screen has made a slighty noticable permanent smudge on the top screen, but you can't hardly notice, especially when playing. It runs like a charm however. I was thinking without the charger, just the console, like $60-70; with the charger, $65-75; with a game of his choice that I don't use (like MK7 or M&L Dream Team), $90-100 since the data is wiped and they are like brand new. He, on the other hand, suggested that with 2 games and a charger, it would be like $75. That was too low for my pricing, but now I'm nervous because he has been hesitant, saying he isn't sure about getting one. I know he isn't going to get a better deal, or at least it will be very hard to find one, plus for me I have no idea where to sell it if he doesn't buy. Any help?

A quick search on eBay had me finding prices varying between $80 and $130 for the original 3DS model, with or without the recharger. I think you should go for:

  • $75-80 for your 3DS alone
  • $80-$85 for a 3DS and its recharger
  • Add $15-25 for each game you sell

At lowest, you might want to charge $105 with two games ($110 if you add a recharger). At highest, it would be $135. That would be my advice.

I think your idea of $90 is good. You can't even get 2 games for $75, and including a system and a charger is too cheap.

I think around $90 is perfectly reasonable. Your friend's idea of $75 for the console + two games is a little ridiculous.

$90 - $100 isn't bad.

Sounds more like your friend SAID he didn't want to cheat you out but in reality doesn't want to pay a whole lot since you're his "friend"

Agreed. The friend's counter offer of $75 for the 3DS + 2 games is way, way too low. $90 seems more reasonable, even with your 3DS' dings and scratches.

Agreed. That's more than resonable. I'm selling my 3ds tomorrow for 100$ with no games and no charger.
Oh, and just so you know GameStop is doing a promotion. 75$ for a 3ds towards the preorder of the new one. (In NA) c:

I have a limited Edition LoZ XL I plan on selling once I get a New 3DS. I know that I won't be using it much, and I'd hate for it to rot in its box when someone else might want it. I can't sell it yet, though, since I'm still using it and I'll be doing a system transfer.

Definitely don't go for the $75 dollar offer though. That is way, way too low. If they want games and a charger, $100 at the very least.

I'd search sites like ebay and check the prices they usually go for, especially any that are in a similar condition (if they're in better shape, I'd subtract some because of the damage). $75 dollars for the 3DS, the charger, and games sounds really low. Even if you want to be nice and give your friend a cheaper price, that doesn't sound fair to me considering that games (depending on what they are) can still be worth some money.

You're a saint even considering going as low as $70 for the console alone. Personally, I'd say don't let him try to haggle for a lower cost. If he doesn't accept your already overly generous price, then I'd say put it on eBay instead! For a console, charger, and two games that's a bargain - and comparing it to other eBay listings he is being offered an amazing deal. Looking at eBay right now, minus one person selling the console at $65 (just went up for sale prob won't last long) I'm not seeing listings below $95-100 for the console by itself.

When I sold my 3DS back in August I purposely undercut other eBay sellers and still made ?80 ($120) after shipping costs + fees - plus I threw in a free charger (which was brand new/unused). It sold in under an hour, but it was also in brilliant condition.

Yeah, I think you're already giving him a great deal. c:

I'm having the same pricing problem with my OoT Zelda 3DS. ;-; I'm considering trying to nab a Majora's Mask N3DSXL if they restock on Amazon or something, but I'd have to sell my current 3DS (well I wouldn't have to, but I don't need two). But I have no clue what to price it at (I'd probably just put it on kijiji). I mean it's a collector's edition and in great shape but it is used, so idk.

Oh, cool! That actually sounds pretty good... do you know how long it goes till?

And thank you everyone! The games also have had their data wiped and I hardly used them, so they are in pristine condition. I hope he understands and if he doesn't want to then I guess I'll just go to Gamestop.

I'm not sure. I work tomorrow though, so I can check our ads and let you know. It should probably be going on at least a week, If not until the system itself comes out.
I'm not sure if they would charge a refurb fee if it's a little dinged up though. But I'll ask and let you know. c:
