As a big fan of Mogeko/Okegom/Deep Sea Prisoner's work, I just had to create a thread to see if anyone else knows about them/is interested in their work
Spoilers, Spoilers everywhere, if you're homophobic, sensitive to violence, gore or mild sexual themes, this is not the thread for you.
Mogeko's current works (games and stuff)
So basically, it's just as the thread title says; outside of Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea, I don't really see much of Mogeko's other works getting anywhere near the same amount of attention, which is a huge shame, as while they have only two other games as of now (The Gray Garden and Mogeko Castle), one has (in my opinion) just as good of a storyline, and the other makes up for what it lacks in storyline (it's much simpler, the characters are less in numbers and the antagonists are... pretty screwed up, for lack of a better expression, heck, I don't think the protagonists have their heads screwed on all right) in its dark humour and sheer mindscrew. Then, there are Mogeko's non-game works, such as the short comic Obsolete Dream and Poison Bugs (only two chapters and a video each as of now, but there's a lot more development in characters and story-related stuff going on behind the scenes in Mogeko's extra comics), Ice Scream, which is basically a somehow captivating collection of one-panel artwork of the characters, a comic or two and a cute little interactive game, which showcases the happy life of the characters living on Iceberg Isle (everyone's favourite orca on a stroll hangs out here, that ought to be reason to check it out).
Everything Else ("Bonus" comics, Omakes characters everywhere)
There's what I like to refer to as "Everything Else", which is... kind of what it says on the tin, tons of extra comics and artwork of their characters, from the games, the comics or no. Mogeko has the habit of creating tons and tons of characters, who are developed upon, given personalities, interact with each other and characters from the games and comics, but have yet to appear officially in a series, the best example being Satanick, who enjoys tormenting a certain character from The Gray Garden and sent Wadanohara a "gross letter" in the interview with DJ Met (who is one of the main characters in Obsolete Dream) in the bonus room under his pen name. "Everything Else" also gives some development and backstory to some of the more minor characters featured in the games, such as Chlomaki; we're given a little of her backstory, and a hint as to why she hates rainbows. then again, quite a few of these comics are more on the lighthearted, heartwarming-ish and funny side.
So yeah, that's a short-ish summary of the Mogeko universe... or should I say, universes. Anyways, in short, here's some of the reasons why you should join the Mogeko fandom:
1: It has GREAT characters, in terms of design and personality, whether they be humorous or serious (at least IMO)
2: With over 300 characters as of now, we hardly know **** about half of them, but with the little details we've been given, the Mogekoverse can be described as the perfect ground for growing headcanons
3: The storylines of the games are pretty dang good, even Mogeko Castle, which isn't really BAD per say, just more focus on the mindscrew and horror than the other two.
4: Mogeko has a simplistic and rather adorable art style, and can pull off comics ranging from cute and humorous to Tsumuri ripping apart Odea's guts with his multiple arms (Wanna know who they are? Check out Poison Bugs!).
5: According to one of Mogeko's posts, everyone in the Mogekoverse is bi until stated otherwise, so shippers, go wild.
Finally, here's some links you may want to check out if you're interested: vgperson has translated the games, and you can find them on her blog with a short, non-spoilery warning and the appropriate trigger warning, don't complain about not being warned, and seichiinaratranslates has translations of the numerous bonus material and comics done by mogeko, and finally, shockingeel has a pretty thorough character infodump, which contains what we know about each and every one of Mogeko's characters as of now, and here I'm obliged to state that there are SPOILERS ABOUND in the latter two (translated stuff and infodump).
So, yeah. That should be about it! Have fun discussing the various aspects of the Mogekoverse! Praise be to prosciutto! Mogege~~ ^q^
