Potential New Rock Hitting Strategy

So, what I do is I sit on the rock, get off frome the north side, dig, put away the shovel and take it out again, and then hit the rock. as a result, the formation is like this:

[H]: Hole
[R]: Rock
[P]: Player
[ ]: Empty Space

[ ][H][ ]
[ ][P][ ]
[ ][R][ ]
[ ][ ][ ]

Tbh... I don't think it's that effective. Here's an easier and more efficient way.
H=hole
M=me
R=rock
B=bells

[H][H]
[H][M][H]
[H]

Exactly, this is the easiest and most efficient way. In some places I actually have bushes planted instead of the holes, to make it even easier.

I want to thank you. This strategy finally worked for me in getting what has sometimes been the elusive eighth bag of bells.

I had been doing the following, which was only giving me seven bags of bells on today’s money rock:

EEE
ERE
EPE
HHH

I saved without quitting several times. In the past I have dug three holes (different days, not today) and somehow managed to get all eight bags, but they were different rocks and different positioning and I don’t remember the specifics, except that my method has generally been to dig three holes because I’m a klutz. Anyway, when I tried your method, it worked and I got all eight bags out of the rock that I was previously getting seven bags from. So thank you! It works.
