Hopefully a thread like this hasn't been made too recently.

ATTENTION:
Do NOT post pictures of food from fast food joints / restaurants / food you yourself did not make

I'd like to see food that users here made themselves (none of your ordered food & drink at some random restaurant)!
Pictures help, and perhaps you can post the ingredients/directions as well to motivate others to make delicious food :)

I'll get this thread started on an example:

Basically a veggie Alfredo faux pasta.
Substituted for noodles are onion, green & purple cabbage (only used 1/4 of each cabbage head), bean sprouts and shiitake mushrooms. Mixed in is a goat cheese Alfredo sauce with tomatoes and snow peas. Salt and pepper, garlic and tamari sauce were used for seasoning. Really cheap and easy and yields plenty of leftovers / can easily feed 5-6 people.

And I make a ton of smoothies, bless my Vitamix.

Typically includes peanut butter, 1 frozen banana, a handful of super greens, whatever berries are on hand, molasses, spirulina, chia seeds etc...

I'm at work so I can't post a pic but I just had spaghetti for lunch. c:

Just the norm, pasta, sauce, mushrooms/red peppers/hamburger/red onion and I think that's it. I made it this morning before I ran out the door, aha. But I love spaghetti. <3

Those smoothies and pasta look healthy and yummy at the same time! :D

If you like using kale I have 2 simple ways to cool it that taste very good, and can be made in probably about 10 minutes!
1. Lemon Kale Salad: This recipe is really simple and involves rinsing kale, then cutting it up into appropriate bite size pieces. Then you'll need to zest 1 lemon, and add lemon juice and olive oil. Mix these ingredients around with the kale, adding as much as you need to taste, then top the salad off with some shaved parmesan cheese and it's all done and ready to be eaten
2. Kale Chips: This recipe is very simple too. First rinse off the kale, then pull the kale leaves off the stem and break them into bite size pieces (keep these pieces a little bit on the bigger size though as they will shrink when cooked). Next dry the kale leaves thoroughly, use a salad spinner if you have one. Then once dried coat the leaves with olive oil, salt and pepper (I've also added ranch or garlic powder to them and they have tasted great that way), and once coated spread the leaves out on a cooking sheet, and put them in the oven. Cook them until they are crispy like a chip (works best with a conventional oven) then let them cool and they are ready to be eaten :)

*Washing kale thoroughly is very important as there is lots of dirt in it and that's just nasty to eat...

I should have taken a picture D:
I had a burrito from Freebirds. Best burritos. Ever.

Chipotle can suck it.

Yeah I love kale :) It always goes in my smoothies, pasta sauces, salads, etc. I actually make my kale chips in the microwave as I find it to be much faster though. I like sprinkling some Bragg's Nutritional Yeast on it as well.

I had a mixed green salad the other day with just an avocado, salt & pepper and instead of olive oil I used coconut aminos. Really delicious and simple too!

Also wanted to post this delicious treat, ice cream made from bananas!

K0CK4um.png

Cut up 4 overripe bananas (yields amount in picture I posted) then freeze them for at least a day (some people say at least 2 hours, maybe if your freezer is cold enough to get them hard / your blender isn't good at blending rock hard things). Blend the frozen bananas until they've turned into a creamy substance - then add your ingredients! Honey, peanut butter, dark chocolate cocoa, vanilla extract, cinnamon clove nutmeg etc., white peaches, blueberries, strawberries, whatever you want! Blend the added ingredients and you're done

It seems like kale has turned into a really popular veggie to cook with now, I'm glad to see lots of people cooking with it as it is one of my favorites! I've only eaten avocado in sushi, but I will have to try it sometime in a salad. I've tried them plan before and did not like them too much. Oooo the ice cream made from bananas sounds really interesting and tasty, I'm definitely going to try that sometime as there are always some overripe bananas just sitting on the counter! :)

Ahhh I love avocados! If you don't like the plain taste of an avocado yeah I would definitely try to incorporate into bigger things. One of my favorite breakfasts to make is rye toast with coconut butter, topped with half an avocado (the other half goes into my smoothie, or even a face mask) and a sunny-side up egg with feta or goat cheese & salt/pepper, and coconut aminos.

And yeah you have no idea how many ripe frozen bananas I have in my freezer haha. Just make sure you put them in there without the peel, otherwise it's hard to take off by the time it freezes! (I also break my bananas in half or quarters which is especially good for weaker blenders)

No problem! Essentially I want this thread to be about food people make at home & the recipes that go along with it. I want it to be an inspiring topic where people like yourself & Drake789 will be motivated to either enjoy the recipes they see and/or hopefully contribute new ones for others :)

Me too! Basically all pasta dishes. If there's time, you can pack so much nutrition into a simple pasta dish. I've even substituted the pasta noodles with seasoned/sauteed greens and it works great.

Btw I read that you're into baking, I would love to see some stuff you make! Apart from baking salmon I don't really experiment much with an oven. I did attempt to bake coconut bread for a while, and some cookies every now and then, but I'd like to play around with it more.

You're a good cook xD

Agreed! That salmon looks really good! I think my aunt cooks salmon in the oven as well, and honestly I have to say that is definitely my favorite way to eat salmon. Looks like you cook a lot of healthy yet tasty foods, that is an amazing talent to have :D

Anyone can cook a salmon fillet, it's actually pretty simple! I rubbed softened coconut butter (could use oil too) on the salmon, then rubbed various spices on it. I didn't wrap it up completely in foil because I wanted the heat to make the spices a little crispy. The bed of foil also needs to be buttered/oiled.

And for the salad, it was just grabbing a handful or two of greens + cutting up an heirloom tomato + adding dressing / salt + pepper / and some grated cheese.

Oops I should also add: 375F for 9 minutes, then 400F for 3 minutes (keep an active eye on it because this is what works for my oven, idk how yours runs!). So the whole meal takes about 15 minutes from the fridge to your plate :)

Some reason I just don't like KFC's chicken too much, idk why people offer so much money for KFC's secret fried chicken recipe??

I guess it must just be something off in my palette, their chicken sorta tastes bland :S

All fast food chicken is disgusting imo, & that person can gtfo this thread for not even reading the first post.

On that note I'll post a picture later of some coconut curry I made :3
