Possibly unpopular opinion: There should be a special tool for picking flowers!

I dislike having to use a shovel to rearrange my flowers. The result is that I'm always picking the poor flowers off their plants when I want to pick up a stick (well ok not always but it happens), I'm always having to fill in holes constantly while moving flowers (which also results in more picked flowers when I forget that pressing Y to close the hole will just pick flowers under me).

I know they wanted us to have to actually *use* the Shovel, and not having to dig up flowers would considerably extend the shovels lifespan, but I find it very frustrating. My island is overrun with flowers at this point and I'm honestly not sure if I care enough to fix it. Might hit the other forums and just pay people to take my flowers for me so I don't have to do it.

What do you guys think, and if you agree how do you handle preventing flowers from getting away from you?

i feel this. i miss when you could just pick up flowers like any other item - it’d still be a chore trying to get rid of all the unwanted flowers but it’d definitely be less tedious if i didn’t have to use the shovel lmao. i’m also real sick of trying to pick up furniture outside only to wind up plucking a flower that’s in front of the item - it lowkey kinda sucks lmaoo

I haven't accidentally picked a flower in a while, I always wait for the thought bubble to appear and when I try to pickup displayed furniture, I'll "run into it" and the press (Y) while I'm still running into it. With that said, my only flaw it the whole "kick the sand" honestly I was so tired of picking the flowers, I started filling the hole back up with (A) that or I'll just save the game while leaving all the holes exposed, I'll close the game and reload it, this fills them back up automatically.

I’m pretty sure we’d all agree on finding quicker ways to pull out our flowers, especially if we have plans to lay out our island in a certain way. Right now, I have a big group of flowers spiralling out of control but I’ve been holding it off for a while... It’ll be a pain to clean up a portion of my island. I did hear, though, that fencing them will help prevent growing unwanted flowers. I’m curious to know if Nintendo saw this kind of issue to rise when trying to clean up.

I'm so so tired of having to use a million shovels, it's such a pain. I miss when you could just pick flowers like in New Horizons. I don't think it would usually be such a problem but with the rainy season I now have like a million flipping flowers all over the place and nobody wants to come take them and I can't work on my island cause I don't have the energy to move them

What is this about paying people to take your flowers though? I'm interested. I tried giving them away (even hybrids) away on the forums and not a soul came. It's making me not work on my island I'd love rid of them

it feels like it takes 10 minutes to get an inventory full of flowers and is painful when all you wanna do is terraform and not worry abt the flowers

They should make it so that you have to press a combination of buttons in order to harvest flowers, and then bring back the old way of moving flowers by hand

There isn't much reason to actually pick flowers, so a pair of pruning sheers that could be stored in one's house for that purpose would be nice. The current "picking" mechanism would be great for "digging" them up without having to use a shovel.
