New horizons have been out now for some time. But the game is clearly lacking in life and content to previous games. What do you want to see the most if you had the choice?
I think I'm interested the most in improvements to online play. That's what I do with the game the most! It can be so frustrating sometimes and takes forever. I chose more furniture, clothing, and hair for my second choice because I feel like there could be more designs in the game for everything. None of the hair really works for my character so I'd love to see more options for that too!
at the moment I'm not doing a ton of online play personally but I agree that there definitely is room for improvement there. most of the updates I'd like are small quality of life things, like bulk crafting etc. new gameplay is what I'm really craving right now, but I don't know if my personal burnout is affecting my feelings about it more than most players

As much as I love playing online, it's still "decent" except for the damn cutscenes who freezes evryone, and lack of a Dodo app to open and close the gate and have more options and rules to set.
I however chose "More events" and "Villager dialogue" since the single player gameplay is so dead and barebones compared to gamecube, wild world and even new leaf. The villagers need more personality and we need to be able to ask them stuff!

My thoughts exactly. Online is something I do more in seasonal events for that hype and community feeling. But after that is done, the gameplay feels so repetetive because the villagers says the same things over and over, and nothing happens. No "come to my house" or hide and seek or nothing.

That's mostly what I was thinking for online. Since we can't meet up IRL right now, I meet up with loads of people online and find it lacks the functionality I'm looking for. I'd love an airport app on my nookphone or even just the ability to buy NMT directly at the airport or something. Anything would be an improvement.
I honestly think I could have checked off every single box on this poll- the lack of dialog would probably have been my 3rd or 4th choice! I have a lot of villagers with the same personalities and it gets far too repetitive. I'd love to see more events too, maybe smaller ones sprinkled throughout or more variation.
I want more things to do daily. After giving my villagers their gifts I sometimes find my self with nothing to do.
I want to put rugs outside and craft multiple fish bait at once. I think we have more "events" more furniture will come with that.
I really don't talk to my villagers they all say the same thing, I get so sick of hearing about the fossils I dug up yesterday.
I definitely want the villagers to have more interesting dialog and playdates like they had in NL. But in addition:
- the ability to one-button sort your pocket inventory like you can in your storage closet
- the ability to craft multiples at once with the click of a button
- the ability to purchase furniture, displayed clothing, and bugs/fish from villagers when you visit their house
- minigames - we used to have so many at Club Tortimer, and the treasure hunt is so rare. What about hide and seek? Anything else? I would love more min games. I mean, New Leaf had a whole entire pair of games (Desert Island Escape was super fun, the puzzle game drove me insane lol) so I feel like that's not too much to hope for

Yeah, the airport itself needs so much quality of life improvements alone... Not just for the online. It triggers me to no end that when I have tons pf tickets in my inventory and is on a mystery island: I still have to return to Orville and repeat the dialogue to use a ticket again.
I just wish a Dodo app would solve everything regarding the airport. Buy digital nook miles, be able to text friends longer texts, invite them over with rulesets, and more.
As for the other things... Well we can only dream.

In previous games the villagers asked you to come over to their house, or asked you to invite them to your own. Then you could play hide and seek, answer their questions about many different topics, and more.
It's frustrating that I also like you, avoid conversations with my villagers because I've seen all there is and it can repeat within a minute.
Crafting I don't care about honestly, but I WISH we could buy nook miles tickets in bulk amounts. Heck make any purchase in bulk.
Events and activities should be a once per week thing and new upates come often. Similar to Splatoon 2.
I picked crafting. I think the only thing I miss from time to time would be to be able to bulk craft a full inventory of manilla clams into fish baits.
I don't need any of the others. I never had trouble with online play except for some error codes when someone with a bad NAT type is trying to come over, which is problem with their wifi and not something Nintendo can fix. I like online play otherwise, how it's limited and people can't do much harm to my island.
I don't want more events per month, though a bit longer for e.g. cherry blossom and maple leaf season would be nice, so you don't feel as rushed trying to collect everything. I didn't even know cherry blossom season was as short as it was, and missed out on a lot of recipes.
I'm still regularly discovering new villager dialogue.
I have enough furniture and color variants through trading to fill all the rooms in two player homes, and there's still many sets and themes left I do not have the rooms for to display. I have more clothes than I can wear and have had the same hairstyle for months now.
I wish there were shortcuts to terraforming. I'd like a way to autofill or swap a path type that have already been put down. For instance, I have terra-cotta paths all around my island right now. I'm considering switching them to stone paths, but it would take over an hour to do, and then if I don't like them, it would take another hour to switch them back.
Same with cliffs and rivers - rather than building them one block at a time, I wish we could just draw the outline of them and have it be done.

@Tinkeringbell You are the exact opposite of everything I stand for hahaha. I will try to point out why I think every point you mentioned needs improvements of quality.
The online play is way too limited, you don't have much to do besides showing around your island. Catching creatures is useless doing together since most of us catch them already alone. So what can we really do online? You said you are afraid of what people can do to your island, well... What if before hosting someone over, you can check boxes what they can do and can't do, or heck, even DURING with a proper Dodo app. When I said online needs improvement I do not mean in connection, I meant features. We can't even withdrwl or deposit money in the Nook terminal on someone else's island!
Why do you not want more events? It adds to the community feeling on your island that Nook cares about us all and invites important characters and funny events for us on the Nook Getaway Package. And of course, adds value to the multiplayer/online community as well.
I'm not even going to mention that the furniture comment.
Let me ask, have you played any AC game previous to New Horizons? It sounds like you started with NH.
This reply is not meant as critisism or such, we all are allowed to have opinions and I respect yours. I just don't agree with it... at all.

You reminded me of something I have a big issue with when it comes to the island... Why can't we ask the villagers to switch locations with each other and just pay 100.000 bells and be done the next day.
The frustration I have when a perfect location I had planned for someone is ruined when another villager wants to move out, and then I get that dreamie villager in the wrong house area. Oof, the moving around takes 3 days without time traveling. I just wanna be able to say "Switch places!"
I feel like that could be the rescue center service's second job. After an upgrade Nook will tell like: "So there's this new construction helicopter from the Resetti brothers, yes yes. Building from the sky now... The sky's the limit, eh? As of now the helicopter can be used by blablabla", and from there we get a bird view similar to the in-house view of HHD and yeah. There's your dream. Hopefully that can be in a free update...
Everytime I talk to my normal villagers it’s the same thing every time. “I smelled my dad’s ___ so I gave him a call!” or “I was reading this magazine and I saw a recipe I should try.”. It’s mostly about food and reading, and they are all the same. I love thier designs and they are the cutest villagers. I wouldn’t give them up or trade them for anything, but I just want more personality in a specific villager. They can’t all be the same, even if they are the same type of villager. I just want some dialogue that can make me connect to one more than the other, and I think that would be a really nice touch to the game.
I also think that the online play could use a lot of improvement, like a dodo app! I think you could have an app that lets you close or open your gate from the outside of the building, or something to that effect. I would absolutely LOVE to see that, and I think it would be such an asset to the gameplay. I also think that you should be able to select multiple trips when you island hop and be able to cancel them if you get the villager you have been looking for, or when you get all the resources you want. There’s a lot of improvement to be had, but I’m excited to see what comes next!

I think having the same personalities but with different dialogue is a little bit hopeful and slightly impossible since we have over 400 or 500 villagers now haha.
That being said I wish there was an option to have all previous dialogue from all the older games into this game. They would obviously never use the gamecube one, but my God that would be hilarious.
The dodo app idea is one I keep hearing and talkikg about in other AC forums, but yes: We need it badly.
I also feel your sentiment for your villagers. I love normal ones too, but lazy one's connect with me spiritually on a deeper level hahaha...
I picked villager dialogue and more furniture/clothes. Online play could also use some improvements, but I actually like the cutscene when people arrive, so I wouldn't want that removed.
I really don't want more events added to the game. I play pocket camp and I'm exhausted by how there's always an event happening. I want to be able to relax and enjoy the game without stressing about finishing an event so I don't miss out on new items.
What about fixing local play? Now, whoever wants to play with person sitting a foot or two from another has to use online feature... and pay for it. Amazing!
More events per month!
Depends. If events will be connected to other activities I will vote for "yes", if events will be just appearance some character in plaza, like a homeless, excluded - I will vote for "no".
Villager dialogue + options and play!
Some mechanics were already created in the past, like for example visiting and hosting villagers on specific time. It's gone, for some reasons. If dialogues will be added, at some point will repeat, as everything has finite content.
Crafting...
Crafting? Crafting what / how? Crafting more than one item... would be nice. Better storage management, moving more than all / one item on the time, select all / none etc.

Maybe you like the cutscene arriving on an island yourself, but being in one when someone comes over is so tedious and repetetive. It's even worse when multipule people come over at the same time. You can be stuck for 5-10 minutes without being able to move at all.
I rather wish we could get a notification flash on the screen with who is coming over from where and we see the shadow of the airplane move on the ground with heavy noise above and around the whole island. I want the flow to feel fluent.
About the events though... Maybe if you missed it someone like Isabelle or a villager will meet you outside of your house and tell you like: "So there was this event, and we noticed you weren't there. But here, we all saved these things for you".
And then I imagine it be like materials to craft SOME of the event items, but not all of them.
These are the quality of life improvements I would make immediately:
Way less dialogue screens in the airport. Holy crap. I was island hopping yesterday and I can't believe how many freaking screens you need to go through to get to/from islands. It's just unnecessary. And do you really need to remind us EVERY TIME we open our islands for "the more the merrier" that people we didn't invite may turn up? It feels like reminding us about that once was sufficient. Like STFU Orville and Wilbur. Nobody cares.
We should be able to purchase Nook Miles tickets in bulk. The amount of menu/dialogue screens is maddening and you have to repeat the process for as many tickets as you need. It's insufferable lol.
We should be able to craft any item for which we have the materials in our storage. Without manually grabbing all the crafting components and putting them in our pockets.
We should be able to wrap one fruit from a bunch without individually grabbing it. If you can give your villager a stack of 30 candies on Halloween and they know to only take one, why is it a different process with wrapping gifts? Why do they assume we want to wrap multiples instead of one? Just little things like this really annoy me.

Yeeeessss you speak the language of gods. I couldn't agree more. Especially the Nook Miles Tickets scenario... It's truly mad. But yes everything you said I concur 100% with, yes yes.
The one thing that realistically don't make sense is the part with crafting with any material we already have in storage. While that would be a dream come true, it doesn't make sense in the lore of the game, since that storage is in our house only. Now... My fix for this would a specific bag, purse, handbag, whatever: an item that collects all your materials at any given time so when you wear it and use a crafting station outside you can access all your materials.
Same would go for fish bait with the... I forgot the name. The fishy bait bag thingie.
and maybe some bags could work for wardrobes only!
