I've always taken an interest in competitive battling, but I've never quite found my nitch. I've been practicing on Pokemon Showdown, experimenting with different team builds, however I'm too picky for my own good. The team I wanted to build was based purely on desire and appearance, and sadly Kingler and Crawdaunt aren't the best competitive battlers.
I thought it would be easier to choose a LC team and I decided to use a hail strategy, but I know little to nothing about battling. After being told my cute little bergmite was useless on my team, I got really frustrated.
Can anyone help me with my strategy and team build?

Starters, you can only have 1 of each item on your team. Can't put Eviolite on everything.

Not sure why you're running a Mixed Bergmite, you should be using a Physical one. I'd advise rethinking the Never-Melt Ice, and get maybe something with Avalanche (?) and some coverage/non-STAB moves.

Okay. Yeah, to be honest I didn't know what I was doing when I put him on my team.
Someone suggested I get a charmander to help cover the fire weakness, but I was wondering if there were other pokemon who could do that as well? Charmander seems a little frail.

And yeah I should mix up the items I give them.

How do you think Shelmet would work as a defensive wall? A Shelmet/Staryu switch-in would reduce damage from fire-type moves. Though I don't know how well it would work...

I'm no expert but I think having a fire type hidden power on ice Pokemon is a bit useless.

I'm pretty sure he ran HP fire on snover just so it won't get walled by Ferroseed BTW

Also, you might wanna rethink that bergmite set.

Since bergmite is more of a defensive pokemon, you could run a toxic -stall set if you want.(Unfortunately I'm on mobile so can't give EVs and stuff).I would run toxic, recover, curse and either avalanche, gyro ball or ice fang.Your choice. You can also put rapid spin in there, since a good amount of your team is weak to entry hazards.

Also,wh

Yeah, I know my bergmite set is useless. I'll either redo it completely or just replace him. And yeah, I was running HP fire to beat down ferroseed walls. So a toxic, recover, curse, and avalanche set? Okay cool. Thank you. I'll try that out.

And the last part of your message was cut off.

My staryu has rapid spin, btw

Bergmite is a mostly defensive Pokemon, but it's also more of a physical attacker than special. Rock Slide is your only physical move, so change the other ones.

How about this set? I think it would work well as a wall. My team has a obvious weakness to fire and ground types, so I'll need to plan around that...

It seems better. All I'd worry about is 1 Flamethrower and it's gone.

I was thinking about switching into staryu to absorb any fire type attacks. Unless there are other pokemon that are better, because staryu might be too frail.

I like Staryu. :) It's not the best defensively, but it should handle a Flamethrower well.

I'm recreating your team right now in Showdown. I just noticed you don't say what nature you want them to have.
Staryu can have 34 more EV points.

Oh, yeah I just noticed that. I could put that into its HP.
Staryu is timid nature.
I thought I listed their natures as well?

Just now found it.

I'm mainly looking at Staryu right now. Sp. Atack EV's can be 196 and Speed can be 236. Because of how IV's work, you'll still get the same stats by doing this.
