Hi everyone!
As iv been going around the forums i have seen people talking about plot resetting. Im not entirely sure what it is and the benefits of doing it are.
Could someone please clarify to me the reason as to why someone would plot reset and how to plot reset??
While playing Animal Crossing the normal way, you'll notice you have villagers moving in, yet no control of who they are or where they will move. Plot resetting handles the "where." If you've ever been to a dream town and saw a bunch of villager homes all lined up in a row, then you're seeing the result of plot resetting. While not everyone goes to the extreme of neat, orderly rows, plot resetting is important for insuring that your new villager doesn't plop their house right in front of the mayor's house, other villager homes, pwps, etc.
Plot resetting is fairly simple. All you need is the ability to make a new player in your game and a little knowledge of how saving works in the game. When you boot up the game as your mayor or another character who has already registered as a resident of your town, the game saves certain things like where the fossil x's will be and (more importantly) where a new villager's house will be. The game also auto-saves at 6AM and determines those things then as well.
So basically, what you can do is set your game's clock to 5:55 AM of the day you know your new villager will move in using the mayor. Then you quit the game and come back in as a brand new player, take a look around and see where your new villager's house will be. If you like where the house is, bingo! You can save the game. If you don't like where the house is DO NOT save. Reset the game and go back again with the new player all over again. Basically do this over and over until you like where your new villager is!

BTW, camper resetting is the same exact process, only you're checking your campsite for a desired villager instead.
Some people also put small PWPs in places when villagers are leaving to prevent other villagers from moving into specific spots. I've definitely used that to my advantage after having a villager plot down next to a pond behind my town hall and be a pain to get to move.
