So I have a certain villager moving out today and they're in boxes. They are asking for one last apple (my town fruit) so I brought the apple but I was never given the option to give it to them? I heard that the day a villager is in boxes you have one last chance to get their picture (and I think this is my opportunity) Do I mail the villager the fruit or what?

I think this has happened before with my villagers in boxes. They aren't actually requesting one, so bringing one doesn't count.
There isn't a last chance while they're in boxes, that I've heard of. The closest I can think of is that they may mail you their picture a day or two after they leave if your friendship was high enough when they left.

I've had the same conversation with villagers who have been moving out. He didn't really ask for an apple, he was just saying maybe he should have one more before he leaves as its your town fruit. Its just flavor text.

Basically if you made an effort to be his buddie while he was living there, he should send you a pic in the mail tomorrow after he leaves. I don't know what exactly the chances are, but all of my villagers who have left who I was friendly with sent me a pic in the mail. I've gotten three pics this way.

I'm a cycling town so I doubt I'll get a picture but I sent her a perfect apple, well see what happens!
