This happens to me all the time

So I went to this guy's town to trade and he wouldn't let me leave with out me giving him all of my money. (He knew how much I had bc I put it in my bio section on the website but I took it out because of what happened, so he knew how much I had) so if you could help me out and give me some bells please help me. Thank you so much. Oh and btw I have the new 3ds xl and it doesn't have that swith thing

Yes I could have shut off my ds. It was in the back of my head I didn't think of doing that
