I just got the game for christmas and i am very confused as to why my town isnt developing. for instance, i paid off my first loan and i didnt get access to the island! please give me advice to improve and develop my town. i am stuck and dont know what to do from here...

You have to save and quit after you pay off your first home loan(the first one after you upgrade to the house, 39,800) and then start up your game. Tortimer will be waiting by the docks for you to tell you about the island. You can go to the island the day after.

Before you can begin your role as mayor, you will need an 100% approval rating.
