Playing two ACNL carts on same 3DS XL question

For those of you out there that have two ACNL game cartridges and play them on the same DS, I wondered if you have any tips for me?
I just inserted my second game cartridge and set up my second town ... (I will be Mayor LuluBell of HotDoggy ... Don't laugh! ) I realized that the game saves onto the cartridge and I realized that only one game can be activated for StreetPass ... I handled that successfully I think... Do I have to go and switch it back every time I change cartridges? I am a little nervous about it all as I would be devastated if I somehow messed with settings for my first town!!! Does anyone have experience playing two games like this? I would love to hear from you!
I am planning on buying a second 3DS XL in the next couple of days but I just couldn't resist starting my new town! Lol

jk aside, I don't quite understand what you mean with the Streetpass question, but for settings I'm pretty sure that you can toggle the settings within one town and that won't change the other (unless you toggle with the 3ds settings). I don't have a second cartridge but I'm pretty sure about this.

On a DS you can only have one game activated for StreetPass and I had to go and speak to the little Dog dude to reactivate it when I put my original game cart back in ... Hope I am explaining it right ... Bit of a doh head sometimes ( only sometimes, though!)

The first time I used my storage town (Merriton) in the same 3DS XL that I play my main town (Cinnabar) on, I went to speak to Digby and made sure streetpass was off for Merriton. In Cinnabar, it was still turned on, so when I get streetpasses, they always come from Cinnabar, and my streetpassers get Cinnabar's Mayor house in their showcase. Nothing ever got messed up, and I didn't have to keep toggling streetpass on and off, it stays permanently off for Merriton unless I speak to Digby again.
