Splatoon Playable Octoling to come in the future??

A recent data mining of the new August update content hasn't just uncovered all kinds of new weapons and stages, it's also uncovered an Octoling character file! No hax, no textures, this playable Octoling data is actually in the game, meaning it's probably meant to be incorporated into the game somehow!

According to NWPlayer123, all that was needed for this to happen was to change the number on the save file for the player data. 0 being Inkling Girl, 1 being Inkling Boy, and 2 being Female Octoling.

And in case you're wondering, the other player in the match can see the Octoling!

What do you guys think? Would you want to play as an Octoling? I'm actually curious how the boys would look.

New video!!

This one has three full battles included. Here you can see that a lot of things are already available that make for a strong hint of possible Octoling release! After all there's the octopus form as well as a little octopus ghost when splatted! Still no voices or different win/loss animations though. Also the eyes look demented on the gear screen so yeah. Maybe that's why they wear the goggles?

This is the closest thing to a male octoling that I see but it's not much help because of the hat.

omg thank you! seeing that pic made my day! they do have different eyes from the inklings alright
I actually prefer the octolings in their octopus form to the inklings, they just look cuter with the curly tentacles <3

It's actually from a video that came out before this one, but I can't find the exact one. I bookmarked the image because it was interesting. Not sure how they got this model before the art was shown, I'm guessing the no-goggles existed for quite a while, without the inkling-like outlines.

This is from the Octoling hack video and it's by the same person, just that Nintendo terminated their account due to copyright. Originally he had to rig the Octoling model to play over the Inkling model (since Octolings can do whatever Inklings can do, they have the same model data and stuff). This time the Octoling player data is actually in the game so it was easier to find and get it to work.

Yeah I heard the game was freezing at the lobby since the Octoling would actually show up as a recent player. But since nothing for it has been released, the game has no idea how to display it and crashes. They'd probably have to reset the Splatoon data to play again.

The little octopus ghost is cute~~
I've been curious to see octolings with hats on since their "hair" is so big, but I guess that part in particular would still need fixing cause it looks sort of silly sticking out of the hats. Slightly disappointed, but will just have to wait and see what happens later on. (that is if they're gonna release her for sure ;u; )

I'm pretty sure their eyes look demented since usually in game the Octolings' eyes aren't seen so Nintendo didn't need an animation for that (which would explain that demented look). I hope Nintendo makes them look as cool as they look in the official art
