I still have yet to receive a single villager photo. I’ll be honest it’s getting quite frustrating. I read the photo information thread but didn’t understand what it was trying to say. So how can I get the photos?

Well I got one from Katt. But i think it random luck and try not to run into them and give them gifts.

i've gotten two for far, and both times was after going to their birthdays and giving a present.
that's after talking everyday and giving presents everyday.
idk if that helps lol

I just got my first photo yesterday, after three weeks of constant wrapped fruits to increase friendship levels. All I know is that, once a villager has a high enough friendship level with you, it’s up to chance whether you get their photo. They can’t give it to you without an exchange item (i.e. you must give them something first) and the mechanism changed recently regarding what items they will give you a photo in return for.

I got my first photo after returning a lost item :)

Was it my thread that you read? What was confusing so I can improve it.

You could also leave your questions there. I do answer of them if I know the answer or if someone doesn't get to it before me.

I usually get my villagers friendship high enough through wrapped fruit and once I get them to ping me to ask about changing a greeting, I’ll take a iron wall lamp and gift it to them. If they give me something that’s not a photo, I’ll just reset until they give me a photo. This has worked well for me so far.

If you’re willing to give your villagers iron wall lamps or hanging terrariums then that works best in my experience for getting their photo.

It is all luck though at the same time, but gifting expensive furniture does seem to work best.

I got my first couple about 2 months into the game. Then they came frequently. Got about 6 one week just by wrapping and gifting them furniture and clothes I didnt need. Then came Gayle and getting her picture was grueling. Despite her been the closest villager to me she took ages to give her pic even after I gifted her countless expensive items. Since then they've fully dried up despite daily gifting of expensive items. I know for sure all but Raddle are max friendship yet half the time now I don't even get an item back after I gift them.

Today I'll be doing the full inventory method Because I'm really sick of teddy and he needs to go. Maybe I'm paranoid but the update seems to of made pictures much harder to obtain.

Your gift item sell value is need to be 250 or greater to get an item back. As in the amount of bells you get if you were to sell the item to the nooklings

The bells wrapping trick and the stack of coconuts with a full inventory tricked helped me get Raymond’s photo who I just got recently and a few others whom I had as my first five whom I didn’t have photos of until now. Maybe every day wrap bells until they stop talking to you and give them a coconut with full inventory when they want to talk again.

Definitely use the stack method from here-

I've got almost all my current villager's photos that way! To build up friendship beforehand, I made sure to talk to them everyday and gift them wrapped fruit. It's worked quite well!As others have said, you CAN give wall furniture, but it's possible they'll eventually start taking furniture out of their house if you do (they won't display wall furniture, but they all have furniture storages that we can't see, and if they start to fill up they'll remove items from their home- and wall furniture will fill it up)

And the stack method is super easy. JUst make sure your inventory is completely full and gift them a piece of fruit from a stack (foreign since it's more valuable- coconuts work well, too). They'll only take one piece from the stack, which means you'll still have a full inventory, and they can't hand you a thank you gift. So, they'll mail it instead. You then have a chance of getting their pic, whereas they no longer give the pics are regular thank you gifts.

Al is one of my first 5 villagers but oh m gee, he is the only one who hasn't given me a photo yet. It is hard for him to give me his picture even after receiving all sorts of stuff. It was easier to get from those who came later. I am still giving him non native fruit everyday because he loves them. I hope it won't take too long, he is really stubborn, lol! Judy came to my island recently so it's understandable no photo from her yet.
