Permanent spring/summer town?

I'm getting tired and bored of the snow in my town. I'm really thinking about TTing forward until spring/the snow melts and holding the date around there until time catches up. I'd like to do this so I can finish my town and finally get my dream suite set up. It's kind of hard for me to visualise what my town's going to look like with all the snow on the ground :/

So I have a few questions...

Is there a way I can safely TT 2-3 months forward without having villagers move?

On what day exactly does the snow melt?

And, if you've got a permanent spring/summer town, how do you feel about it? What are the benefits/downsides that you've found so far?

TT'ing day by day is the best option to keep all your villagers. However, it will be very tedious, because if you do want to keep all your villagers, you'll have to talk to pretty much all of them to see if anyone says something about another villager moving.

On what day exactly the snow melt?

According to this, February 25th.

How do you feel about this?

Asking this question on this forum is a sure fire way to start a debate (or argument), so no comment.

You would be much better off if you traveled all at once. Traveling day-by-day makes random move-outs almost inevitable.

Mhmm, and no villagers will move out if they jump a whole 3 months ahead. c:

Time-travel to the date you want and load up with a new character. If no one has moved, save and you're good. If they did move, go back to the present, stop them, and do the above again. It should be safe to TT after stopping a move, but a new character makes you sure. Be sure to look for villagers in houses to make sure they aren't in boxes.

I meant to ask if others had a permanent spring/summer town, whether they liked/disliked it, benefits/downsides etc. I don't want a TT discussion at all. I know, trust me. Sorry if I worded it wrong. :x

I guess it would work in theory, but then I'd have my 3DS clock 2 months ahead, which could conflict with other stuff :/ Or am I misunderstanding you?

I have Pashmina moving out (by moving out I mean she'll be in boxes) tomorrow - can I just TT forward at this point? Will her moving now prevent someone else from moving out while I TT? Is it even possible to load up with 2 plots missing?

I'm not entirely sure if this will prevent any further move outs, it should though as long as you don't load past her move date. The only way to truly know who is in your town is to TT with the 3ds clock create a new save file (less than 4 houses), check all the houses of villagers inside and make sure they are not in boxes. anyone outside is safe, if you see what you like put a house down. I don't TT with the in game clock so idk if it will save changes in game if you use that clock.

If you had a only spring/summer town you might get bored of those months but it depends on you hope this helps :)

No, you're right. In my limited experience with TT, it was always temporary, so it didn't matter that I used the 3DS clock. If you're using Isabelle, I guess that doesn't work. Sorry.

Hmm.. I definitely need to think about it more then. I don't usually TT with the 3DS clock so I don't really know the side effects of using it :/

I think you can travel as far into the future as you want from when you know for sure that someone's moving (after ping-in boxes, with no interruptions)

I've done it around 6 times, and I'm actually in spring right now. It sure is a nice change from all the snow. One of the downside is that you are not in context with real life time anymore (ie st Patrick's day in December.. What) but I think I'm going to stay in spring for a little more, since everything's so pretty, and my flowers/paths actually seem to fit together with the sceneries

Just brainstorming here as I've never TT'd more than 1 day ahead or backwards (except for once when I accidentally went a week over), but since TTing backwards in time technically only counts as a day, instead of going a month or two ahead, maybe TTing a year or something backwards to the day you want would be safer (ie. February 25th, 2013)? If it doesn't matter to you that your ACNL clock will be way off from real time, maybe that would work.

Again, I'm not sure, just throwing a suggestion out there. :p

Hmm. Can anyone else verify this for me? I was about to void Pashmina but I don't want to if I can use her to TT forward to Feb. easier... :O

I can verify that you can travel far in the future without anyone moving, though I've only done it up with TT up to 1 month forward. I've done the 1-month forward thing dozens of time and as far as I know it should work even > 1 month.

This has already been mentioned, but what you can do is set your 3DS clock months forward, load up with a new character, then verify if there are moveouts. If there aren't any, then it's safe. You can then return your 3DS clock to normal, tell Isabelle to move the clock forward to the time that you want and load up with your mayor.

If you want to be safe about it, do it at 1-month intervals, making sure to use a new character to check for moveouts every time you want to go forward.

Though setting the time backwards is, I do think, also safer.

e: If someone is moving now, you can TT to any time you want without anyone else going to boxes.

The downsides of having a permanent summer/spring town is the fact you can't participate in any events because you'd constantly be in the same month or whatever.
You may miss out on villager's birthdays and such.
I have no idea about the question about TTing. D:

I TTed forward 2 months with the 3DS clock (to March 5th) and loaded up with a new character. Pashmina was gone but everyone else was still there... so I guess it would be safe to go ahead and do it with the in-game clock. But omg, my town just looks SO much better. I'm so torn.

Edit: Hmm, I guess on the other hand, if I go forward to spring and change my mind for whatever reason, I can go back to January with little to no consequence. I think I'm gonna do it.

Good luck! :D

Just a side note: It's way harder accidentally TTing a villager out when moving backwards, though it *is* still possible! So make sure that nobody has a very imminent moveout (as in they have only 1-2 days to boxes) the day you TT.

Ughh... no, I just can't bring myself to do it. I think I'm going to end up burning myself out with all this rushing to finish my town. I'm gonna stay in winter and tough it out :) Waiting for the snow to melt gives me something to look forward to in the long run, too. I started the game in early fall so I haven't gotten to see my town in full green yet, hence the impatience :x but thanks for all the help everyone! Now I know in case I want to skip next winter ;)

I know the feeling. I'm vising dream towns that are currently in spring/summer just so I can see green grass myself XD

Trees should look a bit more "green" starting February, and it's only a few weeks away so it shouldn't be too long of a wait :P

arrrrghhh XD I took some screenshots so I can at least stare at them while I wait!
