*~Pengy: Saving Antarctica*~

This was meant to be posted on the 23rd, but I'd probably have forgotten about this by then, so I'm posting it now.
This is my second fanfic about penguins, the first was The Adventures of Roald, Cube & Crush. I hope this story doesn't turn out like that, it only had one reader and I had to lock the thread.
Please do not advertise your threads here. Also, if you ask to be in this story, I will say no. I might let characters in later in the story, but that's a big 'might'.
You can post constructive criticism here, I don't mind. I like to hear how I can improve my story.
This will include Animal Crossing characters, just not in the first chapter. It will also include seals, so don't worry. Here is the character list for the first few chapters:
Pengy Kellen; used to be Pango Ericsune (an orphan, penguin)
Rachel Kellen (Pengy's owner, human)
Aurora Duthy (princess of IceTown; is a queen in chapter fourteen. Heh, that rhymed, penguin)
Kelly Ericsune (Pengy's previous owner, human)
Gwen Krida (bully, penguin)
Friga Krida (Gwen's sister; when she's with Gwen she's a bully but when she's with Pengy she's nice, penguin)
Pierce Allan (a bird who threatens to destroy Antarctica and kill all penguins)
There will be more characters, about three or four to be exact.

Pengy: Saving Antarctica
Chapter 1 ~ When Pengy Was Up For Adoption
It was the early morning of a late day in December, 1992 - it was the 25th, to be exact - when Rachel Kellen slumped down in her armchair to watch television. She didn't have anything better to do after opening all her Christmas presents, she didn't have a Christmas dinner to get ready. She picked up the T.V. remote which was at the side of the armchair and turned the T.V. on. She flicked through all the channels until she came to the Icy News channel, and she turned the volume up. On the screen, there was a woman wearing a red cardigan (this was the channel's colour), hiding behind a desk and holding up pieces of paper, about to speak about the Orphan of the Week.
"This week's orphan of the week is a one-year-old penguin named Pango Ericsune. He was found in a basket outside of IceTown's local adoption centre, wrapped in a blanket with a note inside the basket. The note was from the owner's next door neighbour, who found him outside her house. She couldn't look after him as she had her own children to look after, so she took him to the adoption centre. His previous owner, Kelly Ericsune, left him out in the rain and snow, and she didn't feed him well or look after him properly. We are looking for a new, more caring owner who will take great care of him, so please only call if you are serious," the woman said. Now on the screen was a picture of the poor penguin.
Suddenly, something struck Rachel. She loved penguins, and couldn't bear to see them hurt. 'What a poor penguin,' she thought. 'I've got to call the adoption centre now...' So she stood up and hurried to 'phone and dialled the local adoption centre's number. The phone rang for a few seconds, then the assistant picked it up.
"Hello?" Rachel said nervously. "I was wondering if I could come to the adoption centre to see the penguin named Pango Ericsune." Rachel listened as the assistant told her some more details about the penguin, and the time she could go to see him.
"OK, I'll be over at 12:30 PM," Rachel replied.
'Poor fellow', she thought. 'I'll treat him like he is the most important thing to me.'
Time passed, and it was soon 11:58 AM. Rachel grabbed her coat and bag, then she walked out the door. She didn't need to worry about being late, as she only lived a minute or two from the adoption centre. She thought about what things she would need if she got Pango, like food (which would be fish, but she could be surprised at his choice) and water, clothes and a room.
"A room," she said aloud. "He can sleep in my room, or the guest r-- what am I thinking? The guest room is for guests... Although, I don't have a family who are coming to stay this Christmas... I guess Pango will have to make do in there."
She soon arrived at the adoption centre.
"Here we go," she breathed, and then opened the door with a great heave. Half minded, she dropped her bag on the floor, but she heard the noise and crouched down to pick it up again, and continued to walk up to the front desk.
