People exchange them at a rate of around 1.5million bells for 100 TBT (The Bell Tree) Bells. Some people pay more, some people just sell items and stuff flat out for them. You can use them to buy upgrades and stuff from the shop on the site.

I don't have in-game bells right now, but I have quite a few TBT bells, so I was offering to pay you with those instead of just straight bells. I would go exchange them but it might take me a little while and I don't know how fast you're wanting to move her out or anything.
