Opening gifts from one villager to another...

I did it earlier and Octavian was NOT happy about it when I returned to him after handing over his gift.

Does it negatively affect your friendship levels, though?

As I remember, it just lowers the amount of friendship points you get for completing the delivery

according to datamined info (check the "deliveries" section), you don't lose any friendship points from opening delivered gifts, but you gain less friendship points than if you had delivered the gift unopened! you only lose friendship points if you fail to deliver the item at all.

In that case, it's a small price to pay for blocking some of the crazy stuff these villagers think are suitable presents / home furnishings!
